To me, the headlights look very aggresive, and the side profile somehow reminds me of the S30Z frow wangan midnight except sharper lines, larger stature, and in sedan format. Looking at the picture of the rear a few post above reminds me of a G37 coupe and an RX-8.

The only car I see design cues are minor hints of the S1 RX-8, and this...

Hmmm.....a bit too much chrome trim exterior wise. Was that a camera for a side view mirror? The rims are sweet, and I love how the center caps are raised. As for the interior 100% WIN all around especially the roof.

More Mazda News from GoAuto here..

While that will not include next year’s
facelifted Mazda3, which will be the first
model to be powered by Mazda’s revolutionary
new 2.0-litre Sky G petrol engine, the new
look should appear within three years on the
next-generation Mazda6, which will debut
the brand’s equally ground-breaking 2.2-litre
twin-turbo Sky D diesel engine.
GoAuto understands the life of the current
Mazda2 may be extended because its release
was delayed in Mazda’s largest market, North
America. The Two was scheduled to be the
next all-new passenger car from Mazda, but
should now follow the next Mazda6.
The all-new third-generation Mazda3
– based on a shorter version of the next
Mazda6’s lightweight new platform – will
debut in 2014. An all-new sub-compact
model to be dubbed CX-5, plus replacements
for the current CX-7 and CX-9 SUVs – and,
possibly, the RX-8 sportscar – should also
wear the new Kodo design by 2015.

A new Mazda2 in 2012, new Mazda6 in 2013 and new Mazda3 in 2014 will provide significant increases in three of the most popular passenger vehicle segments in Australia, while replacements for both the CX-7 and CX-9 should also drive sales increases in the top two local SUV segments.

SELECTED versions of next year’s
facelifted Mazda3 should be the first
vehicles to go on sale in Australia with the
Japanese car-maker’s groundbreaking new
Sky engine technology.
The debut here is expected to be in directinjection
Sky G petrol form, coupled with
the company’s new ‘Sky Drive’ six-speed
automatic transmission.
Mazda’s next all-new model to appear
will be a redesigned version of the onetonne
utility currently known as the BT-50,
which enters production in Thailand in
mid-2011 before going on sale here later
next year.

It is unclear when the BT-50 replacement
will be available with either the Sky G
petrol or Sky D diesel engines, but the first
Mazda model to combine the car-maker’s
all-new sixth-generation chassis with Sky
powertrains will be the next Mazda6, due
here in 2013

Previewed by the Kazamai concept in 2008, the CX-5 is expected to go on sale globally by the end of 2011.
Both three and five-door versions of the small CX-5 crossover wagon.

GoAuto understands that Mazda, like Toyota, will combine the Prius’s hybrid drive system only with a (Sky G) petrol engine from about 2013, but it remains unclear whether the petrol-electric technology will be applied only to a new dedicated-hybrid model or to variants of existing or future Mazda models.

Exactly when Mazda will launch replacements for the current MX-5 convertible and four-door RX-8 coupe – which ceased global production this month – remains unclear, but expect them to be on sale by 2015, by which time Mazda has committed to reducing the fuel consumption of its model line-up by 30 per cent compared with 2008 levels.

Mazda Motor Corporation’s product planning and powertrain development chief Kiyoshi Fujiwara told GoAuto MMC has just signed off the next-generation MX-5 convertible, which should employ Sky G petrol engine technology to set new fuel efficiency standards for a sportscar.

Both the redesigned MX-5 and a next-generation rotary-powered Mazda potentially dubbed the RX-9 could emerge globally as soon as 2013.

You know last year Autoblog or Motortrend did an article where it mentioned that Mazda may have a 4 door rotary as the next RX-8 and a two door rotary as the next RX-7 or RX-9. Maybe the idea of having two rotary vehicles is not as far feched as one would like to believe.

Looking at the pictures of the Shinari concept, its obvious this platform can be used for both 4 door and 2 door applications. In all honesty , the 4 door concept looks like a evolved RX-8. I am shock nobody hasn't did any side comparisons as of late. Mazda has really stepped up the bar with this concept.

I could do without the paneramic roof(to hot for that here in Fl), the back up cameras, the fancy 1080 dash. Just give us the body and a rotary engine in that , and I will surely give you a check on day one Mazda!

Beautiful, back to a Japanese designer with a passion for cars. And look he is working for Mazda.

I see nothing but WIN in Mazda's future....

I've never thought 2 rotaries was far fetched. Most people who continue to insist so are making assumptions that there are entirely separate development costs for each, or overlapping markets. Stick the proven MX-5 chassis under the 2-door of this and a slightly larger RX-8 chassis under the 4 door version. 2 different cars, 2 different markets, both proven platforms.

The RX-8 tried to satisfy both the 2-door market and 4-door market, and did so in an outstanding way. But, there is nothing wrong in splitting it into 2 different models to handle the markets separately.

Here is a comparison

RX-8

Shinari

I truly believe that this concept is a evolution of the Rx-8 , look at the front lights, the rear lights, the bumper, the side gill, the blunt front end, the rotary crest in the hood( front pics),etc. The wheels are even the same with the fact that the spokes on the Shinari are thicker. The over all form is and design is a stretched and sculpted RX-8.

Even though this is a concept , this could lead into being the next RX-8,what better way to further that idea of a 4 door sports car with evolving the RX-8 into a true sports sedan.

RX-8

Shinari

Very similiar front end, notice the rotary bulge in both hoods.

a question to you all:

could this car represent the same thing (or the same ideas) who had represented the concept RX-EVOLV in 1999?

take a look at the pics on page 5 again, the center cap an the black peice around it appear to be the same piece. that is most likely covering the lugs.
