Not a 'Hollywood' production Paul with 20 takes..
Only reason we are getting the new 6 sooner is because the old model is no longer made and we don't have enough inventory to last another 4 months...we are getting priority also because MMC makes more money off every cars sold here compared to anywhere else...hence the comment at the end..to keep the AU growth going.
We say Mazda you say Marzda...

my suspect is that in EU inventories are a lot bigger....
based on the recent news, Japan and Oz will be the first markets for new 6. and Russia (for the sedan only) will be the first here in EU.
continental western europe will receive the cars in early 2013. IMHO.

North America get the 2.2 SA Diesel's at start of your summer 2013...
Why the separated launch delay from January 2013 2.5l Gas release?
, I am thinking engine production capacity issues.
$200 more for Soul Red PAINT!!!..in Oz!!

I was looking at the Australian site and the specifications. It will be interesting to see how Mazda US intends to lead the class in fuel mileage. They may change the final drive ratio slightly. Both 5th and 6th gears of the auto are overdrives already but final drive is 4.056. Ash, our ring gear is FZ25-27-112 for the auto trans. Is that the same number for you?

Paul.
FZ24-27-112A Auto 2.5
FZ33-27-112 Auto 2.2 Diesel
It will be very interesting to see how US prices pan out..
$54,500 AUD for top of the line ATENZA Diesel is a lot of $$'s
$51,500 AUD for top of the line ATENZA 2.5 Gas.
Going up market!!...

Some of our cars also have no i-ELOOP. It seems that all of yours have it. How much was the base model 6 of previous generation with 2.5 and manual transmission? That could give us a clue as to what the price ratio may look like. Ours starts at $20725 USD.

Okay, cool. So we know we have different gearing for the US now, which is one of the only ways we will top the class in fuel mileage.

Or can you see it Paul?...I only looked quickly once, I though they would show it as a specification list?...I am probably being a dunce again...
One decision I can not understand is NO manuals for Australia...this is a HUGE error.
I have emailed DD about it.
I have no idea about what price North America will get, IMO it will be a lot more expensive, Mazda has already said so...by going up market..
Here is a comment from a Road Test @ Go Auto...in Oz
They whine a bit about the steering centre feel, the dashboard out of a SUV (CX-5), and no Digital Speedo...BIG DEAL..
But this gem at the end...
What Mazda has created is top family car value, and a segment front-runner of formidable virtue. That much is clear. Forget the Honda Accord Euro, Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb. The Mazda6 is snapping at the heels of the entry Audi A4s, Lexus IS250s, and Volvo S/V60s of this world.
But we can’t help feel some will be disappointed at how muted the steering’s on-centre feel has become. Won’t be pleased about the lack of manual gearbox choice either. Together, do they spell the end of the Mazda6’s true sports family sedan phase?
For most other midsized buyers, however, they’ve never had it so good.
