BTW Mazda is working in this fields : there are a lot of studies and patents about safety also for infrastructure of roads and highways (in Japan)

I am turned off at the thought of a society that requires no driver dynamic and many are reaching for the goal of totally computer operated cars that are hands free. Oh the joy, the government can tell us when it is appropriate to join the public shuttle and when we have expended enough 'public' energy for the week (Electricity grid of course)

Take heart Paul.
The "accident free" vision is somewhat against the other side of Mazda's joy/freedom/etc... and I don't think they would let it end up interfering with the cars that they truly make for the enthusiasts. For the commuters that people want to still have some pep and zip, the safety features won't really interfere and safety features are a big selling point, and for the people that want to take the bus, Mazda can make money off them too.

I see a future where we get into our individual grid module and speak the destination. The vehicle (Module) will tell you how much time prior to departure and ask for your confirmation with a countdown to departure afterward. The grid will assign your course and alter it as it seems necessary unless you choose to deviate which would simply bring about new calculations. Perfect for doing your homework, your emails, your texts, your toenails .
The 'Personal Pod'. That's what I predict some will call it. In a Mazda we can pretend we're involved through driving simulation. Sorry, I've gone off on a rant. Now back to the all new Mazda6.

It will be made by Apple and called the "pPod"... Samsung will try to make one that will probably be technically better but everyone will still buy the pPod.

The driverless car WILL come to pass. It must, just from an efficiency perspective. We might not like it at first but we'll get used to it. Future cars will have desks to work on, tvs, maybe even beds. We'll be travelling down the road at 150 mph 12 inches behind the next car. Eventually we may get to where we won't need cars. They'll drive down the road by themselves and we just hail one down like a taxi. The network better have some damn good security though.

Mazda 6 and Takeri side by side
Surprise, Surprise: the 2014 Mazda 6 and Takeri Concept Are Nearly Identical - Rumor Central
what i miss most surprisingly is the panorama/vista glass roof. Mazda keeps showing cars with that option but then doesnt build them. A shame really.

Sydney Motorshow release
Mazda car sales are going so well in Australia, the old 6 is nearly out of supply and none being made (Japan)....so...
All new Mazda 6 public release brought forward to December this year instead of next year.
Me M8 Doug..

The press conference was a little clumsy at times with Doug constantly mispronouncing the Mazda President and CEO's name (Yamanachi? ). Yamanouchi-San finished speaking by saying at around 4 minute mark, "Isn't that right Doug?" and got off the stage. Just a little awkward .
All in all, fantastic news and the Australian people deserve it. They are some of the most loyal Mazda owners in the world. Doug even said "Early December". Good stuff. I'm excited for Mazda Australia and I know Ash will give us his own driving impression with compliments and criticisms soon enough.
