Hey, picked up a used one this summer (2006). Love the car though there are a few issues I'm slowly working on. If anyone needs help/advice I've done some of the easier stuff that I assume most people here wouldn't have trouble doing but if needed PM me.

-Brakes
-Spark plus
-Oil
-Temperature control fix (I guess that would cover IPOD mod). I do a lot of circuit board soldering at work.

Next I am looking for a way to check clutch. I'm really not a car person so I have no idea if there is even a easy way to test. Pretty sure is fine just just worn. Shifting 1st and 2nd are sometimes tough and there is a noise.

Actually, if any of you are near st. vital/st. Boniface (Winnipeg) and could let me sit in your car and listen for a noise I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm in that area.
Post pics of your car when you get the chance!

I'm leaving for work for a few days, but pm me your number and I'll let you sit in my car some time next week.

Hey my fellow winnipegers!! I've been super busy with school and work and stopped login in to the forums unless i had an issue with the baby. Im glad to see that we have a thread started.

I drive my 8 year round. Its like a 4x4 with TCS on (and proper winter tires). I have yet to get stuck and I have been driving her since Feb of 2009. Thats 2.5 winters!

She is a 6 spd, Stormy Blue Mica in colour, came with Mazdaspeed CAI and exhaust, I've swapped out the yellow side markers for white/clear JDM ones. I've also installed an 8" Kicker CVT between the back seats and an Ipod/IPhone connecter w/ bluetooth. Aside from that, had engine replaced in February of this year, now she runs much much better.

Cant wait to see you guys on the road!

welcome to the Thread! I haven't seen a stormy blue!! I'm kind of anxious to have a look in person!

Zidaen, I'm back in the city as of last night. I work during the days, and tues/thurs I'm busy during the evening. If you're available wed, we could meet up somewhere!
I'm also anxious to get a Winnipeg Meet together. It's too late in the year (storing Roxy for the winter ), but Spring should be a good one! Feel free to post some ideas, pics or any plans you have for your 8 over the hibernation season

Here's a few recent pics
Was hoping to have the bumper painted, but other priorities prevented that.

RX8Soldier, Sorry for the delayed response... school is eating my time up

No such thing as hibernation for me... You can probably see my car on base (building 90) most Tuesdays and Thursdays as i practice with the men's volleyball team. i saw a grey one at the gym on Tuesday, not sure who it belonged to though.

I'd be down for a Winnipeg meet in spring. we just need to pick a time and place!

I actually don't work out of the air force base. I work out of Minto Armouries on St. Matthew's Ave, so I would probably rule out seeing your car there lol. I'd love to see that color in person!

As for everyone else, I've been rather busy this week, and this weekend is looking to be the same. My car is already stored, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a pm.
As for anyone wanting to have a meet/ question period at any time, I'll be free for the majority of next week in the evenings.

I like Winnipeg, and went to school there.

But I had to move, because wearing front license plates just doesn't cut it for me. If you need me to sign a petition, I will.

If they've lifted that evil law, maybe I'll move back!

Hi Winnipeg Rx8' owners, Ive just recently bought a 2004 stock rx8 6spd vehicle, and sadly i will have to drive it all season, and especially this winter here in winnipeg , I know it wouldn't be good for the car, since all the salt will definitely kill it ='[. So please go easy on me, since I really do have "NO CHOICE".. so with that aside..is there any chance I can ask some tips on which Winter Tires suits best for it?..

you'll probably want a tire that has good grip on the ice, if you do a lot of city driving.
Search Tirerack.com for cheap-ish prices

Everyone "has a choice" as to what they'll drive. You just happened to want a sports car lol

Anyways, welcome aboard! Post some pics of your ride

Avoid studded winter tires. They kill all the potential fun Luckily enough the first day we got snow I still had performance tires on and got all the fun out of my system (made it to work alive only 40 minutes late). I'll check what I bought for winters later today. They were amazing last week; I'm glad studs are legal in the city now.

Actually.... Studded tires are fun on wet concrete.

To be honest I noticed a little more power after... I think cause the engine bay is so well vented and drawing colder air.

Damn Mark, that's a nice hood! Where did you get it? The paint looks GREAT, btw.

Hope everyone had a good xmas and an even happier new year! Looking forward to the downward slope of the season (yes, pun intended ).
Happy rotaring in 2012!!!

Well.. In July a deer ran into my driver fender and its head hit my hood - denting it... I told autopac that its aluminum and couldnt be fixed because of the location. So because the OEM hood is worth about $1500 before paint - I ordered the custom measured and layed hood from SEIBON and had the paint done by the Mazda shop in Brandon here.

Total Cost to me $340 Woot woot

Hey guys, I just wanted to jump onto this Winnipeg forum. Represent!

I just recently bought an '04 RX-8 GT Yellow manual, 65 000kms, completely stock. Unfortunately it is a rebuild. But i got it for a good price! It only has one key, getting an automatic starter soon. I hope to get a catback exhaust hooked up soon. I cant stand to see it dirty, and i do winter drive it but winter this year hasnt been bad yet. It has honda rims in the back.. no idea why. but they are fresh winter tires and they still drift great. I love to drift and spin with my friends. Have extra subs i might hook up.

Just wondering where i can get another key made.

Just checking in and bumping this to the top...

Dean put me onto this thread, so here's what I got.

2008 40th Anniversary Edition, with a (soon to be installed) coilovers, Whiteline adjustable FSB and 18x8 Kosie K1TS Rims with Dunlop Star Spec 245/40-18 tires.

Cars in storage and when I drive it I drive it hard.

Actually I autocross it, which is a ton of fun. If anyone is interested in joining me in that this summer I would enjoy passing on any help and anything from my 7 years of experience that I can pass on.

What I would really enjoy is dominating the course with RX8's, there are too many S2000's which makes me sick...

With the nice weather coming I am going to pull the RX8 out of the garage and start it up for the first time this year and swap the winters for summer tires on my Mazdaspeed6.
