Thats right !! dont think we're gonna take it to 20 Psi

Im sorry forum members but I will not be present at the nats with the Custom turbo

By the way the car is Blisteringly fast ......even on 5pounds boost ,it pulls away like a truck from 2000RPM

I have been advised not to dyno it untill the car has fully settled in ..That should be hopefully tommorow or the day after

Ill keep you all posted

yeah, give it about 1000/1500km to run the engine/gearox setup in and then hello dyno :D

The clutch is way too grabby ..but will settle with a bit of time ..
The car pulls hard from 2000rpm ..I must say the car is completely transformed
In the programming we have added a two stage boost controller as part of the kit ..I will have the first map set to a mild 4-6 pounds boost ,,then flick da switch to a full 15 psi boost

We initially had an issue with the turbo boosting too soon ...at 4500rpm we had frekin 13 pounds of boost !! ..But we are on top of that now

Theres a whole orchestra of sound there ...the beautiful surge of the turbo spooling ..the wastegate fluttering and that awesome raspy exhaust that sings like Pavarotti on a high C

First Dyno results

last night ,we put my car on the dyno for some approx figures ,just to see where we were at , and might I say I was really pleased with the results
Nearly 260 RWHP with 30k plugs, stock oil , 19in wheels 275 rubberand BP ult

We encounted a turbo gasket leak which didnt enable us to get on full boost quick enough and some niggly issues stopping us acheiving desired boost at a much lower rev . Will sort that out ..nothing major
Just letting you guys know where we are at after the first Dyno pull
Could'nt dyno anymore after encoumtering suspect leaks

Looking promising though...200 RWKW is just around the corner ....we hope

Excuse the rubbing out of personal details ...the black line is the one I penciled in as our target boost curve

Sorry guys but been driving in the car all day ..... WHAT A TRNSFORMED CAR!!!!!! Got Lock & Load to take it for a spin ,,,He is going to post a review on the .com.au forum
Fixed the problem with the boost ....the wastegate actuator was'nt pre load adjusted ....done a virtual dyno with the latest G- tech which has given us another 20 rear wheel kilowatts ( nearly 30 rwhp ) ....see how that translates on a real Dyno ....
The car after making this adjustment ,already feels like we blitzed the 200 RWKW
mark ...it seems the 300 RWHP is not so much a pipe dream as I initially invisaged

I went down to Mazda on the Coast and took the Service Manager for a drive ....He was speechless ... I am so exited..

Please any forum members ,,,you are most welcome to take my car for a spin
Mike ( Loack And Load ) cant wipe the smile off his face ..It has the torque of an LS1 with the note of a Ferrari .... I cant wait for you guys to hear some audio files and see the footage I took on the Dyno Last night

IMHO ...I would not want this car to be any quicker ...On the way home I was going around a long sweeping gentle curving bend in 3rd and decided to nail the throttle sending the car instantly sideways ....F$#K Me ...This has got some torquey *****
It feels like a 0-100 5 second & 13 sec quarter car

Lucky my kit has an onboard Boost controller as part of the management ..definitly wont let the wife take it for a spin on the high boost setting ....Flick the switch ,and you got low boost for easy driving and economy

I have some cosmetic things to do to it but a revised dyno and under bonnet pics unveiling a little suprise I cant wait to show Ya'll ..I didnt want to tell you in case It did'nt work

Like Ive always said ...I'll reveal every part of this journey to all RX8 enthusiests ,, My tribulations and my triumphs ..What a journey ,, a month from scratch with Dyno stats ...I'll email them I still cant send it !!

Peace Luv And Mung Beanz

Dave

Turbo 8 Review

Got Mate Mike ( L&L) to take My 8 for a spin ....heres Da Review

Thankyou so much mate , Really appreciate it

https://www.rx8club.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=592

I got the honours yesterday to be the first to drive the infamous Ciao Custom Turbo RX8

We spent the day driving around the beautiful Gold Coast through winding roads and open highway and the first word that comes to mind is WOW

This car is Incredible!!! ,the balance of the car has remained unchanged , but the extra 100 or so kilowatts allows you the added flexibility to control the handling of the the car with your right foot , and just press the gas gently and you have a slow surging power curve ,,with a deep throaty exhaust ;mash your foot against the firewall and all hell breaks loose with traction breaking solidly in the first 4 gears!!! It actually pulls like a worked V8 but the engine roar is reminiscent of a European exotic , a few people have said it sounds like a Ferrari , but with a deeper howl The Quad pipes are awesome !

It really does have a grabby clutch , but after a few minutes , I mastered it (better than Ciao) ,Ha Ha ! It still is not even a hundred kays old!

I must say the car has a couple of new and cool sounds ; driving normally it sounds like a stocker with a faint background whirl of the turbo, gently get on the gas and the turbo whine sounds like a space jet, egging you on to push it harder and after a gear change the flutter of the wastegate is an awesome sound .The ultimate sound is when you NAIL it . The Aural pleasure is “Symphonic” ,as quoted by Ciao ,with all simultaneous characteristics added by the copious amounts of air rammed by the turbo. I urge anyone in the QLD or Northern NSW or anyone Holidaying on the Gold Coast to take this Amazing car for a spin. Dave is a humble Giant , and, if you get the pleasure of meeting him ,You will see a Passionate knowledgeable man who has an infectious love of life / music / and of course RX8’s .Just be ready for him to chew your ear off

The transformation of this car is almost frightening, if you removed the badges ,you would think you were in a $200,K European Exotic. Its THAT Good

The under bonnet presentation is Artwork A’La Stainless and after the cosmetics are done , the engine will be covered and look like stock ( keep those boys in blue away )

Great work Dave Its amazing that someone had got a design concept , fabricated it and produced dyno / power figures in a month !! some manufacturers have taken many months , even years and have’nt produced anything satisfying to me .This has it all; the concept ,the dream , the passion and most importantly the facts , It goes to show ,the proof really is in the pudding .

here is the dyno graph....

EDIT:
sounds good, will there be a proper dyno tune after the running-in?

i can understand how you felt..... there is NOTHING like driving a turboed factory non-FI'd car.... its amazing :D

Thanx for that mate ,,
this Dyno was done with the Actuator pin not connected properly and a couple of leaks ,thus depicting a late boost ...the car is much different now ,,more like the line drawn but have to confirm it with a Real Dyno ..on a virtual dyno it is 30 RWHP up on this graph ,,again , to be confirmed on the real deal

Ciao

EZZY, my mate and I were on a highway and he took some footage on his phone can I email it to you to show it ...I dont know how to its only 479 kb

It shows two cars side by side going 80kmph and when he says "Do a backfire !" I dop a cog a nail it showing the incredible acceleration to over a hundred and something :p in just a few seconds

This clip shows the rapid acceleration and the note of the engine and when he says "Do a backfire !" he is refferingn to the basic tune of the car which at mid revs really rich ,sometimes emmiting a backfire ,which in this case Did'nt
