But it's the end of the year and they deal on them.

The one hear in Costa Mesa gives good deals.

Should be able to get a 24k car for 19k now.

If you must... suffer some pain and get the best deal.. It's the end of the year.

My friends are car salesman but they work at Chevy and the other works at Dodge.

See if you can use one car for a week or borrow one. Taking a week will give you the best deal as you can walk away and then get it two days later when they meet your terms of sale.

It sounds like you've already made up your mind Keith.
Everything you're posting points to the same thing;
Lease a vehicle = Boo
Used Car = Boo
Gallant = Boo
Honda Fit = Boo
Yaris = Boo
Corolla = Boo

Bu FTW!!!

If you some how change your mind and decide to splurge, you can always for this SUV.

I don't need a nice family sedan...cheap econo car would do for now. Erica and I are both fortunate that we bought our home when we did, and got a 30-year fixed like we did....the timing of that purchase has made it so that we could even think about having Erica stay home. There would be no way we could afford it if we had bought recently.

heck, maybe I'll win the lottery on my way home and I won't have to worry about anything ....(reminder to self, buy a ticket). I've never played, so you can figure the odds of me winning are.

I hear you can get real good deals in San Diego or Long Beach.

They have a dealer near the port of San Digo where you can buy import cars real cheap.

That's why you need time on your side to find the best deal.

A friend of mine got a Toyota Camery for 15K in San Diego.

i hear ya keith...

a big reason why i've been kinda resistent to doing mechanical mods is because of what i saw my friends go thru w/ their FDs. i've seen them blow up their engines countless times, spending endless hours like prisoners in the garage rebuilding/ fixing stuff like mad, and then breaking stuff accidentally and having to start the vicious cycle all over again etc. etc. i know it's all part of the fun for them and they love it. but, everyone has a different reason for owning a car. for them, i concluded that they actually had more enjoyment working on the cars and bragging about what they had under the hood- than they did driving them. honestly, there is no other explanation- since 90% the time their cars were being worked on. granted that 10% time their cars ran it was pure butter. insanely great like you could not believe. but, they never could leave good enough alone. it was almost like an addiction...

for me, i bought the 8 simply cuz i like the car. and, i want to keep it simple that way as much as possible. i don't want additional stress from complications because i did something to make the car inoperable. (that's what PC's are for... hahahaha. j/k.) at the end of the day, it's the car that i enjoy. and, that satisfies me.

yeah they were. but when people started putting bigger turbos, swapping out the TT setup, that's when they ran into problems.

impreza 2.5 i is in the price range, starts at 16,900
http://www.subarusanberdoo.com/NewModelInfo
gas mileage is not too good 20/27. (so a tad bit better than what I am getting with the 8...and this would run on 87 octane).

Anyone have experience with Subaru, insurance with AWD cars vs. non AWD, anyone with experience on the Boxster engine (I just love the sound).

2.5 rs was ranked as the 3rd most reliable car 2 years ago.
THe turbo models are not as good, but the non turbo will last a long time.
Same thing with the tranny . . . when you put 300hp to it, they break. But on the little 175hp model, they last forever.

Great little cars. I almost bought one instead of the 8

i've never driven a subaru, but i have 2 friends who've owned them.. and, they absolutely love their cars. (both had outbacks i think.) u should take a test drive keith and see how u like the impreza.

that said, i rode in my boss' new 335i yesterday. and, those twin turbo's kick F'G ***. that car has equal if not more torque than a v8 mustang. (yes- i am not kidding.) and, it was a freaking automatic...

good god.

Yeah, Erica is worried about me getting a car that has a strong aftermarket culture. She knows I love the Subys, and that it would be difficulty, if not impossible to keep it stock. In some honesty, I would agree with her that it would be hard....

I was just throwing it out there. I did look at the Impreza WRX, but they start at 25 and are turbo'd....so big negatives on price, insurance on an AWD car with turbo is most likely more than what I'm paying on the 8...gas mileage is probably comparable to the 8.

the 2.5 rs seems like a reasonable car. I didn't know that they restyled the Impreza...I thought just the STi.
