Wow, I really got lucky when I bought this house. I knew nothing of high winds in SB county. Hard to believe how close you guys are to me and there in NO wind at all here. Not liking all the fires though.

all this talk about wind, dirt, and fires. it's all typical of living in southern california. albeit, the fires are the worst since people are losing their homes.

did anybody hear about the castle that got burned down out in malibu? hell, i didn't even know that there was a castle out there!

That causes blindness if you're not careful. Moderation is the key.

Erica and i didn't realize that we bought directly int he wind belt either. Our home was being built during the summer, and we would go out and take pictures every two weeks to monitor the progress. We only had one bad day along the bhuild, a wet, rainy Saturday. Some afternoon breeze, but it felt nice to use given the hot days.

We moved in in early December...just past the windy season. Windy season, we would find, was during October through November the following year. It is a pain, to say the least. Enough so, that I had thought about selling and moving.

I was hearing the same thing from people..."Nope, no wind over here"....and they were less than a mile away either east or west from us. The wind definately follows the path of the freeway, but is a narraw band for the most part. Cesar, Loren and I are in the band.

We lose the ability to go outside for the most part, lose our satellite dishes, roof tiles, and sometimes, even small animals or patio furniture. The house shakes as during an earthquake...the double paned windows flex as they are about to pop out...and all of our trees have a southerly lean to them. You know you're in wind country when all the trees grow diagonally, rather than straight up (like trees normally do).

Yeah, I agree with you. It is a pain to be stuck inside the house. The good thing about it is, though, you can't get outside to do yard work. Bad part, they don't come around to collect your trash.

Loren...in my experience, people put their trash out on windy days, and there is a truck wondering around looking for bins.....Generally, the rule of thumb is to put it out the following day...if wind permits. Make sure you put your house numbers on your bins....unless you are ok with just picking up any random bin from down the street.

I'll take the recycle bin....I was going to call and get another one sent to the house anyways...

Won't be able to pick it up until Sunday though (the truck is full right now), if your willing to hang onto it for me.

Fire was very small.
The field between Cherry and the 15 freeway, south of the 210 was burning, but the brush is only 1.5' tall. Not much of a threat. The 15N to 210 was closed, 15S to 210E was closed.
I drove by it heading north, and the brush along the freeway was burning.

Probably completely out by 8am. It was almost gone at 6:30am.

hmm... i'm not crazy about the gtr skyline. for that kind of money, i'd rather have the new m3 or audi. nissan fit & finish is not as nice, generally-speaking.
