But jury duty is so easy to get out of.
Wear a fake mullet, and get a temp tattoo on your forehead of a swastika and wear a shirt that says WWCMD (What Would Charles Manson Do?)

Jury duty.
The best way to get out of jury duty . . . . . . .
Tell them you WANT to be chosen. Tell them you would make a PERFECT juror.
"I can tell if someone is guilty JUST BY LOOKING AT THEM"
Dismissed!!!!

I got called for my first jury duty. Mine is set for Monday, June 16th, at the Rancho Cucamonga courthouse.
I'm surprised they don't let students off! If I get selected for jury duty, I will miss at bare minimum my first day of class for the summer, and instantly be dropped. I'm almost 100% sure I won't be selected, but we'll have to see.

Man, there were a lot of people on the "i will be there list"
what a bummer.
well we got al ot done this weekend. worked from sun up to sun down both days! Got it all mapped, tilled, leveled, trenched, sprinklers layed, glued, and tested.... man.... what a lot of work! I am so frigin exhausted.
still need to cover up the lines, re-level, plant, get and install the several tons of rock, hook up the valves (electonics), lay manuer, and seed..... then wait.... and wait some more.
HOPEFULLY we will have it all done by the end of this next wekeend.

you guys and jury duty....I haven't received a jury summons yet this year, but have always thrown anything that appears to be one in the trash. Figure it is junk mail and I treat it accordingly.
Why waste your time doing something like this. I don't vote either, figure that is waste of time as well.

LOL... u guys obviously have NOT been to jury service in a while. they typically get me once every 3 years. and, it's not that easy to get out of nowadays.
first, if you throw away your summon questionnaires a couple of times, the subsequent notifications are outright summons, which u can go to jail if u don't appear for- since it's technically a "court date."
second, there are always clowns during the jury screenings that say and do the things that you guys mentioned. judges have seen and heard it all. nowadays, they don't put up with any bullshit. if u do act like that, they will purposely humiliate the hell out of you there and/ or send u back to the jury room for extended service.
the only and easiest way is to just grin and bear it. and, hope to either get on a short trial or get it over with quickly.
also, they used to use voting records as a means of getting ppl for jury duty. not anymore. now it's from DMV records. so, if and when u get a drivers license, renew your license etc.- well, guess what. they got u.

I have thrown more than 30 jury summons away (at least I assume they are summons...I have never opened them up, just throw them away with the other junk mail). I consider that a pretty easy and painless method of avoiding jury service.
Jury summons do not come registered mail.
I highly doubt they would spend the time, money and effort to enforce any jury summons, or people who refuse to attend....as they have plenty of other suckers to fill the court rooms every day of the year. They are not in need of any additional people, they already have plenty of people to chose from already.
I have a couple problems with jury service, 1) It should not be a required civic duty, it should be volunteer.....so, in my mind, those who show up for jury service are volunteering. 2) Schools compensate staff only 5$ for attending jury service, and we lose a sick day. 3) There are many in our country right now who get out of service because they do not speak English, or are not citizens. (my reaction to this is, how do these people have DMV records, and how are they included in the pool of people requested to attend jury service.....and it seems highly unfair to me that those who fail to learn English are not required to be civic minded)....anyways, end rant.
You guys can continue to waste your time in the halls of court rooms...I'd rather use my sick day to have a day off from work.

yah- it's true the the gov't doesn't seem to be prosecuting ppl who disregard jury summons. it's not like the IRS auditing division where there is direct incentive for them to harass ppl- namely tax revenue. since they have enough ppl reporting, then they can afford to knowingly let some ppl slide thru the system without prosecuting them. so, if you guys have been getting away with it, then i don't see any reason why you'd have to start worrying about it...
however, "technically," just like paying taxes, it is the law. you can rationalize it however you like. but, "technically" we are all obligated to do it, unfortunately. as mentioned, they use DMV records to pull ppl. so if your cousin marge from hondurus is visiting and gets her drivers license- then yes, she'll get a summons even tho she isn't a citizen. but, under the law- she's not obligated to report, because she's not a qualifying citizen. it's just a flaw in their information collection processs. (it's the u.s. gov't remember?)
here's the legal mumbo jumbo on the topic for your reading pleasure, which clearly states that disregarding jury summons is both punishable by fine and imprisonment if you are a qualified u.s. citizen and fail to report:

quick venting
Since I have moved in to what is supposed to be the high end apartments here int own I have had my car broken in to once, covered in hot sauce once, and now i had a key propped up against a tire.
Guess what happens when someone melts the platic cover of a key to the ground while having it propped up against your tire? when you back up . .. . POP!!! I had a key 3 inches in to the tire.
So now it is time to sell the wheels with 3 good tires.

ouch, sorry to hear about that jake.
why do ppl want to pop your tires? sounds malicious.
try not to leave anything of value in plain view in your car, and that will reduce the chances of your car getting broken into.

I decided since my kids didn't have obligations this weekend they could invite their best friends over for the weekend. And Nino works today. They are all swimming right now so that's easy enough and later guess I will have a kid rockband party...lol.

Saturday morning we'll go for a drive out of Vegas towards Red Rock or some other fun roads.
One of the Vegas guys is working on discounted rates for the SoCal guys.
