San Bernardino monthly Mazda meet and drive.
Mazda pays a ton of money to put on the show.
Facilities
Insurance for the event
paying to get all their race cars there
paying for Irvine PD to close off the street
Paying for engineers, designers, company executives to fly out to the event
The SoCal RX group coordinates with mazda but even after Vendor fees and t-shirt sales, they still lose out on the event.

This is a "How To" on getting an upgraded phone for cheap when the greedy insurance company decides to double your deductible.
I tried to embed the youtube video.
All I'm getting is a blank box, but if I look at the one Jedi posted a while back, that one works, so there may be an issue w/ that feature.
Incase you're wondering, it's not me, I just uploaded the video
But, my sources tell me, there will be another "How To" video in a few days.
If the embeded doesn't work, here's the link.

oh, and btw. i don't like the new front end of the 2009 rx8. and also, i would have prefered it if the exhaust tips were enclosed like they are for the 2004-2008 rx8 as well. oh, and i also miss the gill slits that the 2004-2008 rx8 has as well.
and, with the new 2009 rx8, are there any performance increases or weight reductions? i read in a thread somewhere a while back that it was going to be 300lbs. lighter than than the 2004-2008 body style?
oh, the one thing i do like about the new 2009 rx8 though, is the rear tail lights
.

...but is it up and running today? Casey, Scottie and I spent most of Saturday pulling wires trying to get the AEM engine management up and running. The goal was to get it together and get the car to at least idle and get set up all the things the new system was going to run. I left at 10:30 last night and Scottie was still running wires and hooking up sensors. I doubt any engine idling was done last night. Hope things went well.....next event is this coming weekend.
Casey is calling this version of the car, Miata version 3.0.
Miata 1.0 car as we had it with just those first couple mods
Miata 2.0 car as it was recently with some substantial modifications to everything we could do.
now this....with engine management.
I think version 4.0 will either be turbo'd, or have an engine with rotors (maybe even turbo'd or supercharged)
...we can all dream, right
I told Casey I don't think I could drive something that fast right now....still learning now with what we have.

Cesar, thats freakin awesome!
initially i thought the same... but, after thinking about it, i like the new changes.
think about how much time we waste with those plastic grills on the rear bumper, on the front bumper, and the front fender vents. calcite (white film) usually ends up building up there anyways, and although it "looked nice," it's a pain in the *** to maintain.
the changes to the grills are to make life easier for us as owners. and, i like that way of thinking. yes, it doesn't look as nice. but, it doesn't look bad by any measure. and it saves a lot of time during car washes.

loren: I'm actually NOT very excited about him joining Mazda. The VW lineup is sooooo bland. Too round, too much chrome, too plain. NOWHERE in their design do I see any zoom-zoom.
I'm sure if we have a SevenStock (which signs are pointing towards NO) then he'll probably make a guest appearance.

Thats like telling me i have cancer. Ur sticking a knife....better off make that a MACHETE in my heart.
is this only for rthe r3 version that has the upgraded suspension and transmission?
and what's different about the transmission? just the gear ratios for a longer/shorter gear box, or what?
and what's different about the suspension? stiffer springs for better handling? is it any lower than a non-r3 version of the car? or do both sit at the same height?

R3 has bilstein shocks, body kit, richardo seats, no moonroof, and bigger wheels (19"). everything else mechanically (engine-wise) it's the same as the other 09's... mazdausa.com has a comparison check list.
if we don't have a SS, then maybe jorge & gang can organize a protest caravan. we can all drive down to mazda headquarters and protest no SS.

Half hour before the show starting time should be enough. Last time we got there ealry and just ahd to wait behind the gate which wasn't even opened. If you guys are interested, there is a Del Taco right up the street....we could always meet there at 6:30 if you guys want something to eat besides cotton candy, really soggy, buttery popcorn or Milk duds.
