Michael is correct, the FDIC announced intent to sell the bank to a group of Investors back in January.
(Those investor presentations were some of the TOUGHEST things I have ever had to do. 86 companies all came calling wanting to buy us)
Yesterday the sale was finalized and Indymac Bank is no more, the bank was purchased for $14 Billion and is now OneWest Bank
Essentially my employment ended yesterday with Indymac and I "should" have an offer letter from OWB today. Unfortunately a lot of people received news yesterday that they were not being retained by the new owners.
today is a bitter sweet day for me, I actually enjoyed working for IMB but now it's onto bigger and better things for me with the new company.
WOW!!! what the heck are they putting in the water out in S.B.?!
Note to self: do not let emilie drink the water out there....
haha, congrats Jesse that's awesome news! I'm rooting for a boy, we need a Jess Jr.

ok so i am sick and tire of this, my car battery seems to be dead every monday morning. Maybe the battery is going bad, maybe the stereo is doing a slow drain, maybe the terminals are bad. i will have to take it to autozone soon to get a battery check. would a optima get rid of some or all of these problems?
On another note, mazda does not recommend replacing the plugs until 60,000 files, i am at 46,000 or so. Although the dealership did say i need to replace them, is that becase of the flooding (the plugs got damaged)? Should i wait?
Thanks YALL

Our stock battery is very weak to begin with. I've had my battery tested by the dealer and they say it's fine. But, in cold weather I've noticed if I don't start up my car at least once every 2 weeks, the battery goes dead...
I haven't had time, but I want to look into getting an oem BMW battery to replace the one in the 8... My own experience with batteries is that the ones you get from Sears and Autozone only last about 4 years tops.
But, my BMW oem batteries last 7 years. I've had my 323i since 1998 and have only changed the battery once- and even then was in like 2005 or 2006, which is why I opted to pay $120 for another BMW oem battery.
I still need to compare specs and see if they match. But, a quick look on Sears shows that they should be. My understanding is that as long as the size and specs (12 volt) match, then it should be okay... I think the BMW oem is well worth the peace of mind of having to swap batteries every 3.5 years.
Sears: (only for spec comparison purposes)

Loren: sorry to hear about the battery, that really sucks. Sounds like the battery is not holding a proper charge, might be time to replace it. Is it the original?
Optimas as much better batteries, a yellow top or red top should last longer then the OEM.
Random thought, have you checked the water in the OEM battery?
As for spark plugs: they're recommended at 60k but if you've flooded your car you should definitely change them sooner.
I could never imagine going 60k in an RX-8 on OEM plugs

most autozone batteries have warranties...so you may be able to get credit for the battery. Wont be much, but may help with the purchase of a new battery.
Jorge, didn't you also have problems with your battery, and it was the alternator...? What problems did you begin to have that maybe Loren could check...so that can cross off the alternator as a possible failure.

i had a problem with my battery/alternator in my car a few months ago. ...but then, i do drive a honda, lol.
anyways, it ended up being the alternator, and everything was running off of the battery so the battery was going out on me as well. low and behold, the cause of my alternator going out was my stereo system (1200w amp for subs, 800w amp for component speakers).
replacing the alternator and doing a quick 1hr. charge on my car battery resolved everything.
....but, i don't think this is the same for loren.

in other news, i went upto idlwyild yesterday w/my gf. she showed me around the camp sites she was working at over the summer as a camp tour guide.
the drive up there was very exilirating for me! reminded me of the days i used to go up to crestline and big bear w/you guys in my 8. anyways, she showed me around, played in the snow, and had dinner at a little cafe she liked going to. no pix though
. it was all kinda spur of the momment while we were out in the beaumont area.

Lesper its your battery.
I always have to charge mine.
i finally got tired when it only lasted a couple of days.
You need a 26R per specs. But don't buy it. It has been upgraded to a 6535 series.
Which is slightly talller or perhaps wider depending upon manufacturer.
Differance is 25 to 50 more CCA. Its a ten pound differance.
Batteries are batteries. They are all they same. They all go bad in the same time frame.
I just bought mine at battery mart down the street. 59 bucks for 26R and 69 bucks for 6535.
Saved 30 bucks over PEP Boys.

it was the battery, since i killed the battery when i flooded the car it has no charge. it was dead when i left for work again. autozone gave me $55 credit. i was going to get the $170 red top optima but it was special order and i was not going to get the the yellow top for $210. i did upgrade from the last bettery i got to a slightly better version. now i just need to get plugs. autozone had plugs but i have know idea what brand they were, they were $20 each which is the going price.
