Lamborghini Plunges Off 101 Freeway, Driver Killed
WOODLAND HILLS A motorist died in a speeding Lamborghini that came off the Ventura (101) Freeway, overturned and burst into flames on Burbank Boulevard Saturday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
A lime-green 2008 Lamborghini veered off the westbound side of the freeway near Shoup Avenue and came to rest against a parking structure in the 22100 block of Burbank just after 2:30 a.m., according to CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos and a CHP sergeant who spoke to a Newsreel camera crew at the scene.
The Lamborghini took at least a 30-foot drop, and cleared a six-foot chain link fence before crashing, an RMG News camera crew reported.
Also set ablaze was a parked car that was struck in the parking structure, RMG reported.
"It appears to be a solo-vehicle accident at this time," he said.
The dead person's name was being withheld until his or her next of kin could be told about the crash.
The car was originally said to be a Porsche but it was later confirmed that it was a Lamborghini, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
The handmade Italian cars are known for their brawn. Most models are two-seaters with high-performance,12-cylinder engines and cost more than $100,000.
No one with the Los Angeles Fire Department was available for comment.
The No. 3 and 4 westbound lanes were scheduled to be shut down until at least 8:15 a.m. to accommodate the investigation, Villalobos said.

Well my 7 year tenure @ NLC is complete as of yesterday. Was really sad to see the end, but such is life I guess. Good news is that I'm getting a decent severance package, and I found a new gig already. I'll take a few weeks off and start in mid Sept. Slave labor never ends... :P

yes... and in one day you will be a master at driving a stick.... really, it does not take long at all. come up to my house, I can teach you in the cobalt. the cobalt is very easy to learn on... then you can take that and hop in a RX-8 (which is slightly harder) and you will do great!
..... or just hop in the 8 and learn on that, either way, you will do fine.

^^^ says the guy who drives an M/T
traffic is not bad. On the days I drive my 8, it's a minnimum of 100 miles a day and most of it in traffic. No problem at all.
Besides, M/T has more HP.

speaking of MTs....I saw my RXZ88M on the freeway yesterday going south on the 15 by 4th street. I seriously almost cried when I saw it....damn it.
Looks the same except for the addition of yellow film on the foglights. The plates are still on the car.
Damn, I got to say, it was a damn sexy car.
Mazdaspeed Monday bump.
