the more things change
my guess a new engine.
maybe four grand plus. but i can also have
a car thats a little more practical.
it's hard for my mother to get in and out
of it when i take her somewhere, plus my bowling *****.
i drove a regular 3 a while back, so i'm guessing
the ms3 has to be better. i will test drive
one this week to see how it feels

the more things change
i was thinking hard on the g35
i even went and looked at some beemers
they look good, but i think the ms3 should be a good
car. remember this is coming from a guy
that likes the way the matrix looks

幹他媽!
i've sat inside an MS3 at the dealer, and i thought it was decent. the interior wasn't anywhere as cool as the 40th anniversary rx-8 though... my guess is it probably rides stiffer than the normal 3, but the trade-off is it will accelerate and handle better. let us know how you like it. i think it's still close to 30k right?

oh yah- newly extended engine core warranty that we all got right? seems like it would be worth it at least to get the compression test &/ or coils tested like jorge suggested?

new engine warranty equals 8 years, 100,000 miles.
michael: take it in, complain about SEVERE lack of power, they'll compression test, if it fails, you'll get a rental AND your car fixed for FREE

Would the savings on gas justify selling a used car to buy a new car? Unless you're traveling a several hundred mile commute, is it really worth it just for gas savings alone? From the looks of it, practicality seems to be your main reason for wanting a different car.
I have a twenty-one year old rotary, and maintaining it is far cheaper than the price of buying a new car, even with the savings of better gas mileage.
I have personally driven the MazdaSpeed 3, and I absolutely love it. Talk about a sleeper, that car has so much pull its scary. That being said, its also roughly $25,000 USD for a new MS3. For several thousand dollars more, I would much rather have a true sports car, the RX-8. For this reason alone, I would never be the purchaser of a MazdaSpeed 3. If the MazdaSpeed 3 was marketed how the old Dodge SRT-4 (Neon based) was, in that it was sold for roughly ~$21,000 USD, then I think there would be a demand exponentially larger than the already large demand for the MS3.
What I was also told at the Mazda Dealership off the 15 freeway (not Romero off of Jurupa, but the one south of that) that no Mazda is sold with a dealer mark-up. However I personally don't know if this is true or not, but the MazdaSpeed 3 they had in stock a while back had no markups, was competitively priced, and was expected to be sold the same weekend they received it, like all other MS3's do (as they told me).

the more things change
gas has nothing to do with it. it's the power problem thats giving me the blues.
and for a few grand more i have thought about getting the 09. but as stated
the 3 could give me more room.
the free engine thing i would have to have all the oil change
records, and i don't keep them. i throw them away aweek later from getting them.
so i would have to go in and fight with them. a compression check
would show good unless i drove it to san berdo and back and then took
it in, the hotter it is outside the worse it is.
but when it's cool she drives like a champ.

i'm on vacation as of today for 2 weeks so i might give the guys
at tustin a call. but they would charge for the check if it holds up.
not sure if i want to put even more money into for nothing.

hmm. sounds like since u have an intermittent issue that requires some environmental conditions to reproduce, you need a service manager that's willing to cooperate more. have u talked to MNA or maybe jorge or keith know someone good at mazda who can help?

I actually cheated when I got my car.
I knew the owner and had a couple managers keeping a look out for me. Anytime one came in that fit the criteria, I got a call. I went there that day to look at the other color white one that had a couple options. (rotary accent and mud gaurds) The whitewater pearl paint cost more, but I hated the accent pack and mudgaurds, so for the same price I got the cooler color with no extras
It is good to be a little flexible on color and options to get the best deal.
Oddly enough they could not sell the WWP, so they were actually stoked to be getting rid of it. The grey, my first choice, was almost as popular as the black and red.
