Casey/Jessie.....I can't blow up the Xbox, as your version box has the older version power cord. My new power cord doesn't plug into your box. I'll need the power cord if you want me to blow this thing up.

gas prices already changed my lifestyle....no more 8. And it is about to change my lifestyle again. Checking into taking the Metro to work for next year. From what I have found it will be 60 bucks a month for a metro pass...and another 20 bucks a month to park my Blazer at the metro station in West Covina (closest to work). 80 bucks a month, plus another 10 to drive the Blazer down on Monday morning, and home on Friday evening. (90 bucks a month). I am currently (with the Mazda 3, and gas at 4.30 a gallon) am spending about 300 a month on commuting. As gas continues to rise.....monthly savings of doing the Metro will just increase.

That is the positive.

Negative, is my commute was about 85 minutes to work, and about 60 minutes on the way home. With Metro...it is going to be about 2 hours each way

to save $210 a month, you're adding 40 hours of commute time every month.

Gotta ask yourself: what's your time worth to you?

Cesar: need your computer advice again.

Since I'm upgrading pretty much everything in the computer, I figure I might as well go Vista (omg, I can't believe I actually said that) to take advantage of Direct X 10, etc.
What's the difference between the Retail and the 'for system builders'

System builder means it's locked to that system.
Once you install it and activate it, it cannot be installed or transfered into another pc if you upgrade systems again in the future.
Try getting the OEM or OEI version if you can.

what city do u commute to for work keith? one of the guys at my work tried "going metro" once upon a time. and, it took 2.5 hours for him to get from Sierra Madre to our office in Beverly Hills in the am. the same commute is only about an hour driving. and like you said, it's still expensive. metro fees + parking + gas still eat up about $100 bucks a month. he has 2 small kids and he said that if he'd never see his kids if he keeps taking the train.

plus, LA's metro rail is one of THE unsafest systems. it uses a (blind) push/ pull design, instead of having lead cars on each end- which is exactly why when that suicidal guy parked his cherokee on the rail the collision couldn't be avoided and all those people got hurt + killed. to my knowledge, they still haven't corrected this- because of funding issues.

just goes to show u that the mismanagement of our country & states economy in all areas is pinching the middle class more and more. and this guys' a VP with a contract that makes a couple hundred grand a year. a base six-figure salary is no longer even REMOTELY a decent salary in LA anymore.

so if I ever change motherboards, I lose the OS? This would be for my desktop, no real need to ever transfer it.

OK so my response to the Vegas thing, yes gas prices hurt me my car is my daily driver but then again I dont think I would drive that far just for a meet anyway. I dont gamble much either. I would rather get a room and do the shows and walk the strip but my vacation this year is already planned.

The GT does look good, but i like those in black better.

Keith if it is cheaper, I guess then it is up to you to spend your time on the metro. I for one like trains even if they take longer. I used to drive to Anahiem from Alta Loma 5 days a week for a job, that was roughly 3 hours a day in traffic. I quit after a month.

Its hard to say gas prices will not effect your life style when it is so mcuh of the topic as of lately, it is effecting everyones life style. The bike shop i am getting my bike at has had a surge of new customers this last month. There are at least 5 new motorcycles at my works now as well and more people are riding their bikes now as well. I just wish I had more money under my bed

Loren: I'm not driving out there JUST for a meet. I'm going to spend some time with Emilie, do some shopping, and just relax.
The drive out to Red Rock on Saturday is just an added bonus.
