You may want to consider egg-shell throughout the whole house, and semi-gloss in the kitchen/bathrooms/laundry area.
Egg-shell isn't as shiny as semi-gloss, but it's much easier to clean compared to flat.
Flat paint can't really be cleaned because it just smudges.

 

i say prime the kitch and bath just incase and go with water
