wow a lot of posting since I last checked.

Vipers does have a progress thread on the 7 forum.

cool pics by the way. (flywheels install)

for those o fyou that dont know, in post 5147 picture number 1 is the back of the engine. in the RX-8 the engine is very covered up, and you dont get to see much of it unless you take stuff off. when we pulled the alternator off for his pulley install, Keith got to see the top of his engine.

he he, seeing an engine is not very spectacular, but in an RX-8 it is a sight unseen by most people. also if you jack up the car and look throught he wheel well on the drivers side, you will see the spark plugs that thread into the engine.

and of course if you ever saw my race car when I had it, or seen my RX2, it's the opposite. you see nothing in the engine bay but an engine. (makes it nice to work on) . on the race car, it was a cute little engine sitting in a big open engine bay.

kinda off-topic, but there's someone with a white FC in my parents neighborhood that usually parks their car on the street. and, sadly i noticed that it looks like it got totalled over the weekend. the front end is pretty much wrecked and collapsed. usually it's parked on the street and i see it when i pass by. yesterday, it was tucked away in the garage and u could see the damage. kinda sad...

Anyone want a Racing Beat intake AND duct cheap?! Only $300! (new intake is $300 so picture it as getting a FREE air duct which is normally $125)

Lesper??, Snowfl8k??

check the autocross thread for more info...but we will be running first group after lunch.

Winner of the 1st RX8 Cup was Jason Isely (Ulllose)....aka "Fast Jason"

Wow, guess it's been longer then I thought since I saw you guys because I didn't remember her having an intake. Version 1, Version 2, or Drop in K&N?

I got $20 on Ullose to win it again.. (assuming he's there of course)

Version 2...bought it off Mikeb.

Don't know whether the Jason's will be coming up this weekend. MP5 is thinking about it...don't know about Ulllose.

did Mikeb finally decide to get rid of his car? (I remember him posting that he was seriously considering it a few months back)

Grats on the K&N Erica. Now I'll be able to hear you AND Jason when you're pulling up near me. HAHA, that guy came over to my house 2 weeks ago and I could hear his car the second he turned the corner onto my street.

Should sound pretty awesome with the air duct.

he just got the AEM intake, so sold the K/N. He was having some problems with the K/N and his car...I found out that it may have been that he didn't put an intake screen in the K/N....that may have caused the idling problem he had. Runs great in the Snowfl8k.

haha, I can't believe he didn't have a screen in there.

Looks like you and Snowfl8k scored on that buy. Oh, and I'm not exactly a big fan of the AEM intake...isn't that the one with the filter exposed behind the front grill?

yup....and from what Mike said, he had to completely remove the front bumper rebar...which means if he evers gets in an accident in the front...he will have no protection....oh, the things we do to our cars....

LOL!
Yeah, I just don't like the AEM because of how exposed it leaves that poor filter. I don't even want to imagine how often you'd have to be cleaning that thing. Sounds nice, just not very practical if you ask me.

Come on Keith, lets take up an entire page on this thread with just you and I talking...

ULLOSE will not be there as he is testing out of state.

Michelle has not gotten her check in yet for the registration. I think she forgot. (to be honest, so did I) I do not know if she intends to run this Sunday or not. I need to ask her.

Hey everyone,
Sorry I've missed the previous couple of meetings, but I had other committments to take care of. I'm going to miss this month's meet as well, but it sounds like I'll see at least a few of you at the California Speedway this weekend.

-s-

PS, how are you liking the lightened flywheel, Keith? What's the weight difference between stock and the new one?

Scott, I don't really notice the difference that Speed and Ghots have noticed. The revs and deceleration is obviously faster in 1st and 2nd, but tends to be same as stock after 2nd. I took a stretch of road up by my house with stock setup....and ran the car until I hit 100 and logged the point in my mind. Came back and did the same stretch after the pulleys and flywheel were in and seemed to get up to 60 much faster, but ended up hitting 100 at about the same point. I know this wasnt very scientific, but it is a little better than a "butt dyno"

Overall weight, I think Casey has that in his flywheels thread...here's the link:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/flywheel-flywheels-flywheels-90143/

There is even a short video of the before and afters that you can watch.

Razz, the four of uus (Speed, Ghost, Cesar and I) all went with the same flywheel, ACT prolight. Speed and I didn't replace our clutch. Mine was in bad shape, and I may need to do that very shortly, but I think I'll wait until summer, when I have more time, and when we finish the other two installs we have left (Cesar, Ghost). Both Cesar and Ghost are going to be replacing clutches though. Cesar is looking at the ACT SS, and Ghost is looking at the Racing beat, sprunug 6-puck. We'll definately have some feedback once those are completed.

I agree with Deitrich, we need a head count. Looks like we are hitting summer and people have a lot of other things going on.

Looks like confirmed for Saturday are:

Vipers
Kwescott (Dont' know yet whether we will be bringing the black or white 8, or both)
Snowfl8k

Those who will not be there include:
Speeddemon & Michelle (will be at California Speedway Autox practice)
Cesaralaniz (will be at California Speedway Autox practice)

Those who may not show
Lesper4
