Thanks for the comments guys. Rock chips I usually just fill it up with touch up and let it dry for 24 hours. Once dry I sand it down with 3000grit sandpaper untill its level with the rest of the paint and just buff it out. I gave up doing the bumper though, so many damn rock chips. I'm just going to get it repainted. By the way if your thinking of getting lanka to fix rock chips don't get it, doesn't work.

As for dings theres nothing you can really do yourself. Either you get a master paintless dent repair guy come to you or just live with it. I did get a ding about a size of a quarter removed by a pdr guy that came to one of the local exotic car meets. Charged me $120, almost impossible to see where the dent is now.

thanks for the info... i'm a newbie at all this touch-up stuff and am learning. but, yah, lanka really doesn't work except smuge paint everywhere. the body shop i went to applied the method that you described. (it does require some know how, as i watched them work.) they did a really good job. i have one chip on the hood that also has a really tiny ding that u can see at an angle. but, they recommended not to have PDR mess with it cuz they feel that it might cause the touched up part to come loose. how exactly does PDR work anyways? do they just heat up the panel and massage it out? either way, i guess if we're going to drive around the canyons, then that's just what's going to happen- sooner or later.

count me in for the cruise too...

not sure... but like i mentioned, if we can get a couple of regulars who live on the central/ west side to continue going to malibu, this meet doesn't have to die. and, going out to san bern to meet up w/ the inland ppl is always still an option for those w/ enough energy to go to 2 meets.

off topic, but i was driving home from my friends' bbq last night. and an elise sport & suped out g35 coupe pull up behind me and start trailing/ hoovering/ caravaning w/ me for about 3 miles going west on las tunas through san gabriel. felt like i was in a fast & furious movie or something- esp when we passed by one of the night clubs in alhambra and u could see everyone in line on the sidewalk turn their heads and go, "damn what a ******* cool rx-8..." hahahahahaha (i kid, i kid.) well, they prolly just thought it was an interesting line of cars going by. but, it was pretty fun tho still.

I'm kinda in a dilemma, one of my best client wants me to come detail his ferrari before attending a show. Don't know if I'm going to be able to get out of this one, we'll see.

New kid (not literally a kid though) on the block here...
so where exactly is the meet location--does it vary at all in Cali? I've only read the first and last page of this thread (dirt slow ISP at nite job) and what all exactly do y'all do during the run (obey speed limits or living on the edge?) and how about after the run?

im in the westwood area, it would be the 101 south to the 405 south from the camarillo area, basically the border of santa monica and los angeles, about a 30 minute drive south in a non traffic'd time(ie a saturday morning) so i would try to see if theres someone thats more on the way, unless you want to come and do breakfast and talk rotaries and stuff, i have an FD here thats not driveable because its being worked on and an rx8 that's going to be away getting serviced.

The meet location is the very first post. We meet at the Mobil Gas Station off the 101 fwy at Las Virgenes. The address of the gas station is in the first post, but you can't miss it.

We will be meeting there at 10:00, departing at 10:15/10:20. We go on a route that takes us through the canyons and down to PCH. We make two stops before PCH, for taking pictures, and for reorganizing the group. We like to keep the faster drivers up front, and those who want to take it easier, towards the back. So, if at a stop, you find yourself too far from the car infront of you, or holding up the pack in back of you, the stop allows for you to find a newer position that makes you more comfortable.

We have a rule that you must keep the car infront of you, in site, and the car in back of you, in your rearview mirror. This way, no oneis lost, and no one gets in any accidents. This has been successful for us at each meet, and we have had no incidents.

Hope to see you out there, this will be my last run, and I will be bringing some of the folks from the San Bernardino thread....so come on out and share the day.

Oh...we stop at lunch, eat at Neptune's Net...and then run the entire run in reverse ending back at the Mobil Station (usually around 1:30/2:00)..and then you are free to go on your own.

I hope that helps.
