Now don't jump to conclusions at my request........I am looking for an operating 6port engine for a m/t RX8. Please PM me with a price if you would. I'm trying to find one locally to avoid shipping costs. Obviously this is not for my personal RX8. I have a project in mind and need to start with a working 6 port rotary. Missing aux parts are not a worry just as long as it is a working engine.

Looking for suggestions on a good shop out here for a clutch replacement, preferably one you or many people you know have used. I am a little tight on money but this is something I need to do before it gets worse I think. Even though money is a bit tight I am thinking of putting a lightweight flywheel in there while its open.

Was at a light and went to take off and suddenly rpms went up but the car was barely moving and there was a sound like my front tires were spinning(I know, not possible) from just in front of the dash in the middle. After I parked it for a bit and came out to try it again everything drove somewhat fine, at least it drove. I am now noticing a small acceleration problem but it isn't very huge yet. The clutch engagement point is very high on the pedal. So far this has happened twice but only once with the scraping/spinning sound.

I posted this over at sin city rotary as well.

I believe several guys have done their own ... things to note is not catching the O2 sensor wire when re-installing the tranny and the powerplant bar

either way you go I wouldn't wait too long

I would love to do it myself with some help but I just do not have the proper tools or place to do it. If I were to buy the tools I need I think I would be approaching the labor cost and then chances of me using those tools ever again would be slim so I'm not sure that's the way to go. I did look up some DIYs on here and I think it is a bit much for me to do alone.

I definitely need to replace it soon as this is my daily driver. I am just feeling it out right now to see what my options are.

I am looking at this clutch as it is $25 cheaper than the oem one they sell and the BHR lightweight flywheel too. Although from reading it is starting to look like the stage 1 is a poor choice as a whole lot of people have issues with it, I guess the extra $25 for the stock one might be money well spent.

New Ride

I have been waiting for one of our 8 forum posters to announce that he is now an 8 owner. But alas he has not come forward. Just to give you a hint, his ride is blue in color.

there is 2 8's being parted out on CL, might try there. another yard next to pic-a-part on lamb has one.

i could also use a S1 engine cover if you come across a spare monchie. i just hate driving to nor-town with 15 being ripped up.

i don't get why you can't just take something as positive regardless of the bullshit you have with me.

people on this forum in the valley aren't going to just have a random engine cover or ECU cover laying around. so consider it more a response to monchie then, if you can't handle a little helpful info and perhaps not aware that there were parts there at the moment. pic-a-part doesn't have any 8's, and probably won't for another 5 years or so, calling all the non-self service yards in town takes time..

try one of the local ad listings, someone parting out a whole car is probably going to give you a little better of a deal than $85 for that piece. if they want to sell it in a timely manner that is.

Monchie - 04 05 06 07 08 Mazda RX8 Engine Motor Cover RX 8 1 3L | eBay

$40, free shipping. That's a good deal, honestly. Worst case scenario, I have one I could part with, although I'd be at $50-ish. It's used, and I wasn't planning on selling but we can work something out if you don't pick up that one I posted on here.

13x, I saw some of those ECU covers on eBay for not-a-whole-lot, local would be nice but that's where I've been getting random bits.

that's a pretty good price, considering it cost half that to ship it. plus you won't spend $10 in gas to pick it up somewhere.
