Well my car officially blew the **** up. 10 ft our of my work parking lot I heard a loud thud come from my engine and Kasumi halted up a bit. After the thud there has been a consistent scary rattle coming from the engine. I was still able to put the car in gear and put her back in the parking lot but damn it sounds nasty!
A rotary that "blows up" normally sounds like a coke can being crushed. A "blown engine" will also run but with no actual compression. A thud sounds like something else
She is being towed to guess who.... COURTESY! **** my life. I really wish I had somewhere else to take her but this really looks like it is the engine. If this ends up not being covered by Mazda I am scared to think what the cost of repair will be on this one.

Just kidding there - I never said that their work sucks just their attitude and customer relations. From what I understand they only have one certified 8 mechanic - hope they don't give your car to a hack. I hope it's something inexpensive.I really don't think it's the engine. The noise goes away when I put the clutch in and comes back when I take the clutch back out. I didn't know there was another dealership here in town. I only know of the two Courtesy's, north/west and south/east. I just spent my last tow from AAA too.
Well there are several out there just need a few more to show up to the meets. Maybe when it gets cooler.
Well Courtesy gave me the diagnosis and they are saying I need a new clutch and fly wheel. Asking for $1500. Anyone got a better spot I should go to for this or is that actually sounding pretty reasonable?

Sorry, I didn't make it to the meet, I honestly totally forgot about it. Ever since my Birthday, 10 days ago I've been nothing but busy. I also had a friend in town, who came in all the way from Australia. I'm gonna try my best and make it to the next meet.

Gawd, I still wish that I lived there! Maybe Dan is still around and can recommend a place or two for a lot less than that.
I am not sure about a clutch on an 8 but normally it's an easy job. Any garage can change the clutch. If that price includes the new clutch plate, bearings and resurfacing the pressure plate then it's not bad from what I can find out.
I'm looking into aftermarket clutches a little. I see a stage 1 clutch masters will run me like $465. I would think labor there after wouldn't be $1000. I just need to find the good reputable garage to install it.
No experience with them - talked to our Mechanic and he tell me that a good clutch job properly done should be between $1000 to $1500 depending on the quality of parts used.

Dam Anthony, I need to get some more things completed on my 8 and find a shop that will do a clay-bar cleaning and hand wax. I sure do want to get those pix done on it. Next week is out cuz it will be under construction (again). As soon as Ray is done I will find a detail shop and we will get together.

Phil I want to take some I haven't taken any static shots of an 8 for a while. I saw a pic of a black bmw and was inspired. I'm not free for 3 weeks though Phil so let me know asap I'm off Tuesday wed and wed have to meet at about 5 again

yea but if you thinkI scare people now you should have seem me then.....real ugly but not quite as heavy. When I left college I weighed 230 lbs but it was distributed a little differently cuz my waist was only 30".
7 Stock
Well they finally named the Official Hotel for Seven Stock so I just booked my room. I will leave for Irvine on Thursday and come back Sunday. Mazda is saying that they will go to great lengths to make this the best one ever. If your going let me know what days and time expected. Some times there are parties and other group events that are held.
I know that for some of you times are hard but look at it this way, there is no cost for Seven Stock except for gas to and from. Most of you make that trip quite often anyway and this time you could combine family and pleasure.
