yes, thats what the universal code readers throw out, as they are not designed specifically for rotaries
had the same code readout on mine, except i had multiple cylinders misfiring...!

there is a thursday meet. its at 1 of the in n outs. every1 goes there. i went there hella back when i was in high school with my cousin whos on these forums and drives an 8. i visit vegas often cuz my fambam is there.
yw man if the new coils dont do the trick I would look into reseting the nvram on the ECU sometimes when the eshaft is out of wack it will cause the engine to misfire or give the error code its misfiring.
and best of luck

and when you reset it, does your car make a scraping sound? I think thats what my mechanic did and told me the scraping sound I would hear is... I dont remember what he told me. Happens around 1-2k rpm. sounds like the driveshaft

possibly do a search but its the 20 brake pedal trick. the eshaft position needs to be reset after any major work sort of like re timing the engine by putting the engine back to top dead center. I never heard of a scraping that sounds bad dude .. its possible since your ECU needs to re learn the tooth pattern of the eshaft plate
im not an expert but I would say its worth a shot here are 2 good articles how to do it

not sure about your problem man moreso for darkhelmet and the misfire codes after he changes his plugs and coils and wires
the noise you describe not sure about that but reseting the nvram wont hurt anything

does anyone know a good mazda dealership where the mechanics dont give you a hard time and make it easy for the engine swap? i live in millbrae and the 1 in burlingame(putnam mazda) is the closest but hes a *** and when i asked him about it he said i had to have records showing that the car has had regular maintenance blah blah blah blah i want hassle free service. i do all the maintenance myself so i dont have records.
any shop recommendations?

i dont think they would.. i cant be for certain. Engine doesnt even crank over, so you cant do a compression test, huh? I think you should try to jump start it, your battery may be dead
heres exactly what happened. i posted another thread on it asking for help
