Bay Area/ Nor Cal Community Chat Thread
Geesh I normally never write on posts as you can see my posts count.
Thris thread used to be more alive... But rain makes it suck all around...
Hey crazy thought if cats are so expensive why not slap in a bolt on mid pipe to get rid of it and keep it them every smog put it on for a month for smog tests then afte just take it back off.
Pros cons. It will last longer and not go out if decarbing but is louder and leaves a check engine light on in told...

hey guys, I read I should clean my MAF/IAT. I did with contact cleaner and now my 8 runs better while rolling, but when I come to a stop it has a bit of a rough idle at first and stays steady at about 850-900 RPM. My question is does the initial rough idle go away after a while or is there another step I gotta do?
Hey I will be leaving my 8 parked for about 1.5 months...other than disconnecting the battery cables, is there anything else that I could do? I might be able to get someone to start the car and run the engine once in a while....any suggestions???
Going back home..bosnia, and a cruise + driving through italy, greece, hungary, croatia...i will be gone for a while and just want to do whats best for my ride while im away...im thinking of calling mazda, but dont know how much help they will be..
You might want to lift the car up on stands and take the wheels off if you can, if its in a garage so the tires dont get flat spots.
Coolant should be fine
Put some fuel dryer in the tank
Might as well change the oil before you leave
Car cover is highly recommended if its outside
Other than that you should be fine, I'm lazy and probably wouldnt do any of this, but I have read a few threads on what ppl do when they leave their car for an extended period
HAVE FUN! sounds like an awesome vacation
Thanks tournapart, those all sound like good suggestions.instead of pulling the plugs, do you think it would be better to just have someone turn the car on and let the engine warm up, like once a week? Thanks for the help
if the car is in a garage, just slap a trickle charger to it if you think your battery is suspect
if it's outside and you have friends who can do it for you, have them take it out for half an hour on week three to get the fluids flowing and the engine up to temp.
if you read some of the NW forums you'll see guys who store their 8's for the entire winter doing even less than that.

Sitting at a red light, I see this 8 roll up behind me, a nice photo op to share with you all. Funny thing, it was some kid waving at me with his grandma next to him while I was snapping pics.
If you can make it to Milpitas.. Awesome sauce
Or meet me at a Too Slow meet... Much more organized and dedicated weekly. NorCal rotaries fell apart when I crashed :'( well not really lol oh well.

I do agree with an east bay meet, it never happens...
Some people drink or do drugs when they're having a hard time, apparently I buy car parts.
