I remember the first too slow meet I went to... Parking lot was filled up in Cupertino
I'm in the process of getting new rims too, probably 5zigens or Gram Lights, cant decide.
Hoping she'll be running by the time theres meets going on again

Hi everyone,
I got in a hit and run last night. Filed the police report and notified my insurance. The AAA rep was very helpful throughout the entire process. She recommended body shops for me to my 8 but I held off and told her that I would prefer to do the research myself. Obviously I was keeping Michael J's in San Jose in mind. However, Michael J's is not in the AAA Repair Network.
My question is: do any of you have suggestion's for body shops in the Peninsula? I live in San Mateo and there are a few that seem to have great Yelp! reviews but I feel that it's irrelevant since I would tather trust the opinions of actual 8 owners?
Thanks in advance! My 8 is fine except for a huge gash on the driver's side front corner.

Michael J's is really really expensive. I took my 1994 Probe GT down there this past summer (on the recommendation of Capitol Mazda San Jose, as that's their recommended body shop) and their quotes for repainting (mostly due to keying over the years, and clearcoat peel/alligatoring which was a big problem with Ford paint on all 1990s-era models) were a bit outrageous (full repaint/reclearcoat=between $6K-7K).
A few years ago a woman ran a red light and skinned the front of my Probe GT. Mr. Mazda, my past and present mechanic, recommended I get an estimate from Camden Auto Body in Campbell (across the street from his shop) but AAA (the ins. co. for the lady who caused the damage) recommended Magnussen Toyota's auto body shop in MV/Palo Alto (on Old Middlefield and Independence). They did such a beautiful job, and for less than the Camden shop's estimate, that the front bumper looked brand new. (since Probes were no longer manufactured after the 1997 model year, they couldn't just go buy a new bumper/front fascia and put it on). The damage went into the substrate so there was more involved.
Bottom line, even though I have never owned a Toyota and have no plans to, I would highly recommend Magnussen Auto Body.

Thanks for the reply, Lady Jazz! I haven't done my rounds yet to for estimates, but I'll definitely check out Magnussen's. I got on their website but there wasn't enough detail- just the contact info, so I'll be putting a call in. Thanks again!
got my homie lazyboy just a lil more than a week and im luvin it ....got a lil problem with the "fuel injector"? as what ive been told by my friends....when i turn on the ignition sometimes it starts within 3 or more seconds..not normal, they were saying something about a leak somewhere..showed me the fuse box for EGI sayin turn off the car take off the fuse and put it back then turn it on....blah blah but i got warranty anyways. oh ye anyways i jus wanna say YES I FINALLY GOT MY RX8! 2004 sunlight silver, black and red interior, and yes its a automatic, oh well... lol
I'll be driving down to Sevenstock Thursday night. Planning on leaving around 7ish if anyone wants to caravan.
I've gone to a bunch of 7stocks and so cal dyno days and leaving at night is about 1000 times better then during the day. No traffic, no rush hour, and coffee works wonders. It's not like there's anything to see on the 5 so you're not missing out.
Anyway, if someone wants to go you can PM me and we can meet and head down.
PS Don't PM and ask me to leave Friday, that's not gonna happen
