You should bring it to oak tree mazda, or we should take about taking care of your situation. I was sure that if you had insurance that they cover vandalism. Over the years, be affiliated with collision and auto repair shops, you see alot of things. I know this one situation where someone put sugar in someones gas tank and it ruined their engine, and the insurance covered the repair bill. I would imagine this could happen to a rotary engine.

I dealt with oak tree mazda, who did you deal with?
Look, I am still fighting mazda on this whole thing. I have a lawyer and blah blah blah. I am on the corporate radar, there is no way oak tree could help me because as soon as they try to get work done using my vin it will send up a red flag.

Simple, mazda is a shitty company now. I dont disagree that they still make some decent cars and have good engineering, but what good is it if you dont take care of your customers? they are number one. If mazda would have just been honest about the whole thing, changed my engine because it is their defective bullshit renesis motor that failed, then I would have the utmost respect for them and would remain as loyal to the brand as ever. But they decided to take the hard road and try to **** me

The engine is toast, I need a replacement core. What exactly happened is anyones guess but mazda was quick to claim abuse with out even looking at the ******* thing. Oakland mazda is a horrible dealership to do business with, NO ONE SHOULD GO THERE. but on a farther note, I got corporate involved and they were just as useless.

I am definitely not in a situation to turn down any help, if there is anything you could do for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Oak Tree is good with the warranty work. I went there for my transmission. At first Mazda was not going to cover the warranty because it's supposed to be a day too late, but somehow the manager there pulled it off and repaired it under powertrain. I'm not sure how that works. I thought the transmission was covered under powertrain.

smog Check

My registration renewal bill does not say I need a smog check. I thought we needed a smog check on the 5th year. In the DMV website it says after six years.

Your good to go then. No need to smog your car unless it tells you to go to a "TEST ONLY" station.

I had too much tea and coffee from this place:

Place
Cafe Quyen
1692 Tully Rd
San Jose

I can't sleep. Maybe its the caffeine or the visually pleasing waitresses. We should setup meets here.

Hi all!

I am not sure if I am in the right section....I am in San Francisco and new to the rotary world but learning fast...
I have inherited of great 2004, one owner, all original..but it needs an engine rebuild. The car is in my garage and I have started to remove the engine.

Does anyone have feedback/reference on this mechanic?

thanks!

Charles does know alot of guys, but not all rotary engine builders...lol

It depends on how much you want to spend and if you want it done right the first time. There are many variables that will determine how much you spend.

You have to decide if you will be happy with a cheap rebuild to save money, of if you want it done right so your engine will be just like new.

You need to make sure they check the wear on your ecentric shaft where the bearing are and the rotor housings to make sure they are still good and do not need to be replaced.

Also if the engine was ever over heated you will have coolant seal issues.

I am from the bay area and am familar with alot of local shops and reputable poeple.

But first, you need to know what your budget is and what you are trying to achieve after your motor is rebuilt.

Ben

New website and shop. If they are able to move from doing rebuilds at home to opening a new shop then they should have enough experience. 10 years is a long time to be working on rotaries. Their prices are fair and they seem hungry to get their name out there. But they need to advertise on RX7club and RX8club so that they can get country wide known.

Give them a shot, let us know how it works out. Go see their shop.

Good Luck!
