Relatively minimal damage. 1 rotor and 1 housing. Side irons were unscathed.

Broken at both ends. One piece missing. The marks on the rotor are mostly in the carbon, aside from the dent. But it is smooth so I'm going to clean it up and consider reusing it. Will also look into getting the housing refurbished.

I want to drive it again, it's already been a week! It took 8 hours to get the motor out and tore down. Long day. It will probably be a few more weeks while I clean and rebuild. I've got some travel coming up. May be running late July.

Nice work with the tear down. Regarding missing piece of apex seal, any damage on the turbine blades?

Maybe on low mount a broken apex could pose a threat to the turbine blades but not a top mount ... the gravity will make sure they stay down

No damage to the turbine to my untrained eye. No remnants in the exhaust that I could find. Also, a pic of the shattered seal.

If you suspect steel has gone through the turbine , the damage will be on the inducer ...which you cant see without pulling the housing off.

I would say the rotor is still usable, I will keep me ear to the ground for a spare houseing, maybe that company will have one when you order apex seals

Thx man! I'm have my doubts about the housing but checking all options. I'll check with them

Her's the rotor cleaned up. A few scrapes and the crater but nothing protrudes above surface level.

measure the width of the rotor groove where the broken apex was . They tend to get deformed so you would need to do some doctoring to get the clearances right .

I'm not a fan of using that rotor btw. I do hope the housing cleans up nicely.

20b?

I have heard those edges from those holes in the rotor can make hot spots and cause ping. now seeing it all cleaned up I would be Leary too.
