Removing the walls didn't cause me any issues, but taking a screen out did. When I mentioned it the response was that resetting the ECU would make it worse if it was already rough. RE: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/intakes-70472/page2/
Also, what reset procedure are you guys suggesting, the 20 brake tap one?

On the REVi, I guess it all comes down to whats important to you and if you have the spare funds. If I could afford to, I'd still take a MS CAI over modifying the stock box, but for essentially the same benefit this is worth the few minutes it takes.

Glad you like the mod The RB and stock are strikingly similar besides the panel vs cone filter along with the walls. Remove the wall and you get a RB intake

It shows up as 9999 mpg and 0 HP on the scangauge (as explained to me by the scangauge people). Any thoughts on why this cutoff might not be happening with the intake stuff removed?
Last night it started doing the fuel cutoff thing again. Perhaps the ECU relearned something?

Also, I noticed when crusing in the low 70s, my exhaust seems to be louder. Perhaps because the engine is getting more air?

Nope, but thanks for the thought!

I just put up another post that said it started doing the cutoff again yesterday. Not sure why, other than maybe the ECU adjusted to the increased air flow.

I don't know that I'd really call it a problem. Wouldn't have even noticed it without the scangauge. But yes, it seems to be entering the fuel cutoff mode like it did before the mod now. When I lift off the gas and the engine is under load (which is almost always is since i had an AT) with sufficient rpms, the scangauge shows 9999 mpg and 0 HP, which indicates the fuel injectors have been cutoff to save gas.

Yeah, I know about the fuel shutoff. What I was saying was that it wasn't doing it for a few days after the mod was done. Then it started doing it again. Same type of driving conditions, etc.

Yeah, I wondered if what I was hearing was more intake noise, but it still sounded like most of the noise was coming from behind me. Interesting thing is it only seems to be louder at certain speeds/rpms.

I really like having the scangauge. You can read and clear codes, and you can display up to 4 gauges at a time. Hopefully more and more will become available as more of the xgauge codes get discovered, released, whatever.

You are welcome to check it out at the next meet we are both at.
