^Not on stock wheels...I mean if they are aftermarket 20's then yeah they'll fit. But I wouldn't put 20" wheels on an rx8...

He can try

Also, why would you want just a pair of 20's? Keep the stock 18's up front and have 20's in the back? iono man...

Very true, 22"s in the rear and the stock 16"s up front would be pretty baller!

why stop at +50? +55?

16x7 up front 22x10.5 in the rear is the ultimate grip machine

is it possible to have convex 22's? If so, that'd be hawt.

Did you mean that size tire on an aftermarket 20" wheel? The stock wheel on your car is 16"s - the tire size you described is 20"s

Hopefully you guys can help.
Afriend recently gave me a set of rims that are:
18x8 +30 front
18x9.5 +25 rear

The car is NOT lowered. I am currently running 225/40s all around which i know are an inch lower than stock but decided to change to a lower runout on the tires instead of the costly upgrade to the 2009 R-3 4.7 geared rear diff.
I have -2.5 degrees of camber in the rear which i had planned to, until recieving these rims, to make more positive for a little bit better tire life.
I have searched and what appears to be the best tire for me to run on the rear, which will keep the run out the same and overall diameter at the 25" mark like the 225/40's have is a 255/35.
My question is... With such a low (+25 degrees) offset will i need to roll the fenders? Will i be able to take the camber back to -1.75 degrees with out rolling them?
Thanks in advance guys.
Great thread by the way. It is great to see so many people helping each other out with these issues. I havent found a tire shop around here that can help, but most of the guys there can only do alignments by putting it in the green and dont understand what these specs accually do to the cars handling.

Being that I run a 17X10 +25 and it needs major work to keep from running with 245/45s I am going to venture to say that you'll need to do some definite rolling for them to be good at stock height, and if lowered I'm not sure they'd work..

Thanx for the input and the replay, but The 10" is wider than the 9.5" and the 245/45s are a bit over an inch taller than the 255/35s i plan on running. I dont plan on lowering the car since the tire size i use lowered it an inch without touching the suspension. Thats the problem, Ive set here for hours going through this thread, and there is tons and tons of great knowledgeable info in here, but i have yet to see someone running the setup Id like to run. Id love to be able to put these on since they are new free rims and im still riding on stock.

Whats your camber spec in the rear.

You'll have about .35" more clearance than T-rex's tire with regards to sidewall thickness.

Without regards to tire, the wheels will have .25" more clearance on the inside, as well as the outside.

Tires, however, prove a little different;
his 245/45/17 is on a 10" wide wheel
your 255/35/18 is on a 9.5" wide wheel

The tip of tire will still differ by approximately .15" on the inside and .15" on the outside, yours being the wider of the two.

To sum up:
.35 (~9mm) more clearance with regards to height
.15" (~4mm) less clearance on the inside and outside of each wheel

What style tire will you be running? T-Rex was running some aggressive R-Compound tires on his wheels so we can expect them to run on the wide side...

Comparing it with the common 18x9.5 +45 & 275/35/18
.26" more height clearance
.39" (10mm) less clearance on the outside (+30mm more clearance on the inside)

Visually, imagine this rear wheel/tire combination (at the highest point) sticking out approximately .39" more. I believe I was at around -1.7 camber there. Also remember our suspension cambers in from static height the farther the load...

I think I recall a member who actually tracked his car with a similar setup, lowered. Let me check...

Cool, I found the thread I was thinking of - he guy was actually running 18x10 +24 rear but with rolled fenders. Anyways, it might be worth checking out...
