Bigger brakes are useless. Do 18x9 +35 with 245/40. Game over

What do you mean by game over lol? Also I said bigger brakes but really I was gonna get slotted rotors and 4 piston calipers. Will there really be no difference?

Thanks

It would make more sense to use that money on a college education

Stock brakes are very good. No need to modify them. Spend that cash on 9" wide wheels with 245 or 265 section tires.

Will the bigger brakes really not help cus I feel it would be better for my driving style because on the mountain roads I like to brake really late and hard. I was thinking of getting 9", but a lot of people I have met on mountain runs tell me that wider tires are not really going to help me on the mountain roads... so not sure what I should do right now...
Anyhow all I got to worry about right now is whether I want to get my new wheels and tires first or my coilovers because they are gonna cost about the same. Btw anyone got an approximate number on how long tires with about 3/16 thread left will last?

/\ doing mountain runs and hard, late braking. I'd imagine not very long, even considering I have no idea of what compound you are running.
I'd be wrong to say buy coilovers before tires. Buy coilovers and decent used tires with some life in them. BBK is flashy cool but sound like you need to put one foot before the other first. Consider buying real good pads. It can make a great difference in feel and accuracy.

I'm looking for wheels online and not sure what will look good. I just bought new tires so I'd like to keep them 225/45r/18 so my options are wheels 18x8 or 18x9 with offset from 15 to 25mm my car is dropped with h&r springs and I'd like the wheels to be stretched just a bit and tucked a bit without needing to roll the fenders. Help please

You can start by reading the last few pages. That tire size and offset are awful together. With that much offset you are almost guaranteed to need a roll.

You still won't be able to beat Project D's downhill ace. You'll need some Watanabes and a black hood.

The amount of braking force that can be applied is more than just how large your calipers and rotors are. The stock brakes have enough bite to lock up my 265/35R18 Kumho XS when fully up to temp on a track day. Larger brakes will just cause them to lock up sooner.

Think of your car as a SYSTEM. Everything works together.....suspension, wheels, tires, brakes...etc. When you change one thing, it will affect another.

When you figure out that larger brakes will only allow you the ability to lock up your tires sooner, you will understand....

I went back 10 pages and still didn't find the info I need. And I realized the wheels I want also come in 35mm offset

If stretch is what you want, then a 9" wheels would be more of what you want. I personally think stretch is horrible and people are dumb for doing it, but that isn't for me to decide.

If you went with 18x9 +35ET and 225/45R18, you would be OK without needing a roll. This isn't the setup I would ever recommend to someone, but it should fit.

Steven you don't know enough. Do more research. Research means reading not asking questions.

Then you should have seen your answer in the last page or two. Someone else just asked almost the same question. Going back isn't enough. You actually have to like read and stuff. With your eyes.

No you were asking for a spoonfed answer. This isn't the teletubby forum. At the very least do some reading like I suggested

Thank you for being the one person that actually helped me. I only want a little stretch do you suggest I go with a 18x8 and the same offset?

I am thinking about getting a 17x10 rim and like the Enkei RFF1 as they are cheap and super light. I want them for racing and will be wrapping them in a nice set of hoosiers.

I presume the +38 option would be the best fit. I have coilovers and the car is lowered about 1" but that varies often depending on my mood.

Would they need much work to fit and how big a tire would be ideal for that rim, I am thinking 275 or 295. The next one down is a 245 which will be too stretched and I think the 315 is going to be pinched a little and will probably need body work more then a fender roll.

Ask in the racing forum. I don't really know how Hoosiers fit.
