I've searched so many posts and found almost everyone running 18x9.5 +15 rims. I've seen some that run 225/45/18 (marky702) on this setup all the way up to tiltmode43 who ran 265/35/18 on this setup. From what it looks like, its going to take some finessing no matter what tires I run. I understand that I am going to have to do some trimming and pulling. So my question to you is why do you think this setup is a bad idea? I can still change my order to a different offset, but I'd really like to make this work with atleast 245/40/18's or is this unrealistic?

Wheels before suspension is not a good idea. Just because tilt did it doesn't mean it's easy.

Oh I totally agree with you Tilt is crazy awesome. I really want to run this offset though, but don't wanna throw on any 225/40/18 tires. I wanna stick to 245/40/18. I definetly will be buying some coilovers here soon, but my wheels will be coming in sometime this week. Do you suggest I install them with the coilovers all at once then? If I install the wheels now will I rub really hard or hit the fender? Btw thanks for your patience thus far.

Look retarded is more like it. 245/40 is doable but expect fender tabs to be removed and work to keep the front corner lights. You will need to go lowwww to pull it off.

Yeah I kinda guessed that I'd have to slam it! I'm okay with that, but is the issue the height of the tire? or width? or both? Would 245/35 or would 235/40 be best with it lowww?

245/35 would be easier but width is a big deal too. Just do 245/40 IMO. Or ask Tilt

I just got new rims, they are 18x9.5 +20 with 245/40/18 and i've had to roll fenders and fix the rear tab, and the rear is still scrapping!
hope this helps

So 255/40/18 on a 18x9.5 +35 rim will fit on an rx8 that's dropped on Tanabe springs. You will need the rear fenders rolled though.

Go do a full-lock turn and see if it hits the fender liner in the front.

It is quite possible to actually hit the metal behind the fender liner.

I checked for any type of rubbing when they first installed them making full turns one way and the other to see if anything rubbed. Then the same day my buddy and I put the rear up on jackstands and jacked up each wheel till it stopped to see if anything rubbed. It did so we used his fender roller till it didnt hit anymore.

I'm looking at XXR wheels that come in 18x8.75 +20 or +35.
they also come in 18x9.75 +20.
- How wide can i go all around for an aggressive look? (at the fender)
looking to drop on S-techs soon.
thanks in advance

I happened to stumble upon this link on a bmw forum, at the top is a calculator you put in your old wheels and new wheels in and it will give you a bunch of info. It tells how much clearance will change if it will extend or not. the difference in tire diameter. Just a cool thing I found and thought I would share with the rest of you.

Well I'm sure this has been asked before but here it goes anyway..

I want to stick with 18's but would like to go a little wider in the back, I don't want to mess with rolling fenders or camber or anything but I would like them to be as close to flush as possible.

With that being said, what offset should I be looking at for a 8/8.5 in the front and (possibly?) 9.5 in the rear? I will also be lowering before I put in an order, 1.25 maybe 1.5".

looking to get ???/35 - 18 tires, depending on how wide i can go without having to make any alterations.

Thanks

I'm looking at getting some Varrstoen 2.2.1s. Before we get in a big replica vs. real debate they come in 18x9.5 + 30 or +22. Will the +22's be flush or is the + 30 the better choice?

As for tires I'm looking at 265/35 or 255/40's (if they would fit) all around, with rolled fenders and shaved bumper tabs.

I'm also lowered on KW coilovers and looking for about a half finger gap. 'Hellafunctional' is my goal.

Thanks in advance!

Wider in the back? You think this is a mustang? Flush without rolling the fenders?

well clearly you care about looks n' all J is telling you is that it's going to look like ****.

wayyy tucked in the front w/fatter tucked wheels in back.

Simple message to all, stop aiming for mediocrity. If you want "close to flush" then roll your fenders...any fitment w/out rolled fenders is NOT close to flush.
