I am interested in new wheels/tires. So far these catch my eye:

Buddy Club QF 18x9 35mm offset.
Toyo R1R 255/40/18.

Stock height, Koni shocks (not that it matters).

Does anyone see any problem with these? I am concerned about fit, of course. I know there will be tire longevity issues with the Toyos. What about the QF lightweight wheels -- what are the risks with these vs., say, CE28N Volks?

hey new owner here, getting new sport tuning flight 20/8 +45 rims. theyre madd light and single cast, but I kno zero about tires and what will fit in my wheelhouse.
any help would be great. thx

 

The rears would be fine, but the fronts are a little tough to call. Given that you aren't lowered, but with a tire size larger than stock its possible to rub the fender liner with the wheels turned since rubbing occurs on the sides. I can't say for sure though.

theyre only 22 lbs and its just my summer car, and id get a great deal on em getting them from the same order.

it will fit easy because its basically the stock rims moved 5 mm outward. not really aggressive looking with lots of room to play, but if you really like it and must have it you could fit some 245/30 or 255/30 tires.

 

Would 18x9.5'' fit all around or produce any problems? I got a dude that wants to trade these for my stockers.

 

depends on the offset.

 

right im not worried about the offset being too bad, Im just conserned with the expansion of the diameter of the wheel to like 26 inches total with that rim/tire combo,
Oh and im just a dr. I don't want too aggressive

yes, except the rear fender must be rolled depending on your tire size.

Front&Rear: 18x7.5 +48 offset
Bolt Pattern: 5x100 and 5x114.3
Tire: 225/45ZR-18

After a lot of research, reading all the posts in this thread and consulting with a few tire shops, I decided to go with F:20x8.5 and R:20x10 and couldn't be happier. Special thanks goes out to "Kel Rx8" for answering all my PMs.

So if you're wondering if it will fit... YES, F: 20x8.5s and R: 20x10's will fit!
Here are the specs and link to photos for reference:

F: 20x8.5 +40 245/35/20 (235s may be better for more clearance though)
R: 20x10 +46 275/30/20
(Rear fenders rolled and some plastic was trimmed due to the aggressive drop)

our bolt pattern is 5x114.3

that'll fit fine. it will look very similar to stock still concerning how far in it is.

 

on the 9.5 rear? well, it will be stretched, but it should fit.

 

No stretching tho with 245/40/18 on 18x8.5 +35, right? Would there be stretching on teh 18x9.5 +45?

Got a temporary situation that might require me putting hoohoos meant for stockers on wheels meant for bigger tires but I won't be able to swap 'em till next year when I can spring for some nice daily tires. Not sure how stretching would affect the tire when it goes back to the stock setup. Might effect the decision on the wheels

Eventually the 245/40/18 go on stockers and I'll get 255/275s that have good fitment on the new wheels.

245/40/18 tires all around... is this size a modest upgrade?

what size wheel should i be looking at with the 245 without stretching anything?

 

yes you are stretching on a 9.5. 245 on a 8.5 is fine.

 

8 inch or 8.5 inch wheel. but whether it fits or not has to do with your offset.

 

19x8.5 +45 all 4 corners

was thinking 245/35-19 or 255/35-19?

well, what would be an ideal offset for a 8 inch wheel? with this setup?

what if i were to run 265/40/18 tires.... would that be a 9" wheel? what offset?

 

that will fit fine. It's not really aggressive, but it fits. either tire setup will work. 255 is closer to the OEM diameter.

 

for the 8 inch 245/40/18, your offset can go as low as +34. Any lower, there is a chance of rubbing up front.

for a 265/40/18 tire, 9 inch wheel yes. That tire size is larger than OEM so it will most likely rub if the offset it too low. Haven't seen that size used it so I can't say what offset would clear it. would probably have to be over +45.
