honestly I have no idea what will fit bro; but if you can, check how many mm distance there is from the wheel to the fender lip on the actual 3. Thats the only way i would know how to get a semi accurate answer. Also maybe fit a stock 8 wheel on a fender and measure from there...

 

OK, ill give it a shot since its getting close to removing my snow tires.

I want 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear without any body modifiactions (my 8 is comepletly stock)

will it fit???

And while Im at it, what would be a good tire size for this setup?

You're missing key factors, or rather main factors such as offset and tire profile.

I have no clue what offsett I would need for rims that size

F: 18x8.5 +35 ??
R: 18x9.5 +35 ??

Tires on those rims would be:
F: 235/40-18
R: 275/35-18

EDIT: Just checked Tire Rack and am looking at Enkei Racing PF01 18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear (no idea how to determine offset or if they come standard with the correct offset for an 07 rx8)

Tires they suggested where 225/45 front (duh) and 245/40 rear.

 

^Fronts will fit fine. Rears you will need to roll fenders and trim some plastic.

 

Even for the Enkei's? God, dont even now how to roll fenders and trim ugh

Get the 9.5 +35 all around with 245/40, 265/35, or 275/35. With the 2 wider ones, you will need the rear fender roll/trim plastic. Getting the fenders rolled is pretty cheap. Just find a place that seems competent.

But those rear enkies would still need a fender roll (assumming +35 offset for the rear 9.5's, the fronts should be fine with the standard +50 offsett)?? Or could a get a different offset to elliminate the fendor roll?? (Or do fendor rolls look cool )??

 

^^ typically no rolling required with 265 or 275x35 if you're not lowered.

^ Given the wide rims and aggressive offset a roll is near invisible (hence the need for same). Typically the rears need to be rolled more than fronts on the '8 due to the innately disparate height and fender shaping.

Staggered may look good but it's detrimental to handling. The RX-8 was really designed for symmetry.

 

If you aren't lowered with 9.5 +35 with 275s I fear it will look goooooooofy.

 

^ LOL. not sure what you mean. Other than when looking directly from behind the car (and seeing very wide tires) you shouldnt see anything different from a stock rx-8 from the sides. I DONT want the tires to stick out the sides, just want the widde tire look from behind is all. Kinda like the old muscle cars with the big back tires and smaller front tires.

Then again, maybe I just dont have a clue what it would look like.

Yeah I know, unfortunatly I will lose some handling with the staggered look, but with this sites help and some strut braces and sways, plus good suspension I may be able to offset most of it. Plus I dont race yet, and would definilty use same size all around when I eventually go to the track.

 

They will stick out beyond the fenders on a nonlowered car. On a lowered car it will look great though.

PoLaK's below are 265x35 on 18x9.5 +38 RP03 rims and only 1/2" lowered. They're flush and would also be flush at stock height.

 

I have the same rims and the rear of my car is at stock height atm. The rim is pretty close to flush, but 275s will bubble past the rim. It's not a look I would want and the fronts would be worse. Try to find pictures of Fortunate Few's car. It's 9.5 +38 stock height. edit: I just measured the fender height at the rear of my car and it's at 27". Polak had his lowered to 26" perhttps://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=1934687&postcount=38. That's more like an inch instead of 1/2" and it does make a difference.

 

PoLaK recently indicated to me he was only 1/2" lowered, but he may have forgotten now that his '8 has passed on. It does look more like an inch, and why would he have rolled if only a 1/2". Anyway...

It will fit with a roll. You will need your car to be lowered for it to look good imo. Feel free to do as you want though.

 

It really depends on camber. When not lowered, there's only a tiny bit of camber that can be added to the wheels, which is why the top of the wheel sits out more. The farther you lower the car, the more camber you can add. So techincally both of you are correct in terms of flushness.

 

I've searched around for info on the 6ULR but I haven't found anything on this forum . It comes in a 17x9 +48 or +63 and 17x10 +52 or +62 . They're designed for s2000's but I figure one could fit them on an 8 if you opt with the lower offset.

I always like to opt for a non-staggered setup. I've driven a 350z with a non-staggered setup and liked it a lot. And coming from the miata world its almost blasphemy to run a staggered setup lol.

So wheels would be:
F: 17x10 +48
R: 17x10 +48

Tires would be:
F: 275/40-17
R: 275/40-17

Stock ride height and whatever needed alignment of course.

Would the sidewalls be too high?
Would it hit the inner liner or even fender?
Would I run into scrub radius issues with that much rubber up front?

Please forgive me if I accidently asked a nub question.

Will these (with the proper front offset) not rub, require a fender roll, or stick out??

Otherwise, what suggestions do you have with this??
