Are the 17x7's for winter only? If so, go for it. If not, NO WAY.

 

Not winter only. Just curious, what your thoughts were as to why it's a bad idea. With 225's wouldn't 7 or 7.5 be ok? I checked the fitment using a online calculator and it seemed fine. Thanks

 

Well the stock size for our car is 18x8

Its never a good idea to go below stock width for DD use. Cuts down on handling extensively...

I guess Im just unsure of why you'd want to buy rims to downgrade performance

 

I'm currently using 16x7.5 and wanted to bump it up to 17 inch tires. For the rims I wanted, they don't have anything larger than 17x7. I could simply pick buy different rims that make 17x8 or 17x8.5 or if I really want those I'd have to bump it up to 18" tires and wheels to get the proper fitment. Not a big deal, just will hit the wallet a bit more. If there's any degradation like you mentioned, it's not worth it so I won't do it. THanks, you've been helpful once again. I really glad I asked before buying anything. I clearly still have a lot to learn.

Stock ride height but would like to add coilovers in the future.
18x9.5 +22 Volk TE37's front and rear.

Open to tire suggestions necessary to make this work as well as fender rolling. Let me know what we'll need.

 

^fender roll and pull. slight stretch on tires. 265 maybe 255.

 

Interesting, what exactly is a pull? I am surprised I can go with that large of a profile soemone locally told me we'd have to go with 245....

if not, you should. People are fitting 18x10 +22 w/255's IIRC

 

There are a large variation on what people call wheels that " fit"

Yeah I've looked at much of what that thread has to offer. In the OP I linked another thread in here wich explains my situation. I am not as educated on this subject as I would like to be prior to asking questions.

This car is a DD driven by my girlfriend who rarely takes it to any performance extreme. I dont want to sacrifice function for form nor do I want replacing what was stolen to turn into a huge expense in body work and suspension parts but we are willing to do what is within reason to create a good look that is reasonable for the life of the car.

That being said, it would appear that those wheels would turn into more work than we're looking to do, would you agree?

Some say it's worth it. But for me, i daily drive mine on some shitty roads in LA. The potholes, dips and random raised sewer holes scare the **** outta me. I don't wanna have to sweat it when i see shitty roads or when i have people in my car.

If you wanna go with something safer. Try 18x9 offset: stay around the +30's. You'll need a fender roll but that's about it. Or if you wanna go wider. 18x10 offset: stay around the +45's. There's also a couple other combinations like 18x9.5 +35, 18x8.5 +30, 18x9+38 that work pretty well w/minimal if any fender work. It also depends on the suspension and purpose as well.

 

Exactly the info I needed. Considering we're stock ride height right now, do the previously mentioned combinations allow for any room to lower the car in the future w/o major mods?

you'll be fine. just a fender roll. You may experience the tire touching the fender liner but nothing major.

Thanks to advice from you guys, I've avoided some costly mistakes. Finally decided one of these two setups then I'm done

Running on 245/40/18
1) 18x8.5 +35 all around
2) 18x8.5 +35 in front; 18x9.5 +35 in rear

I think first would both fit w/o having to roll rear fender but not sure about second.

 

both are quite conservative and would fit without a problem.

 

I'm thinking about the Tenzo Type M V2s and I was going to go with the 18x8 wheel. What offset would you guys recommend? I was thinking about the +25...but i'm kind of clueless about what would look good as far as the offset goes...so any advice would be great. OH, and I have no suspension modifications (YET).

 

Yeah if you get the 18x8 +25 it will fit nicely (as nice as an 8" wheel can look). The only reason I dont like them is that they have 2 bolt patterns on the wheel; it looks very tacky.

18x9 +30 all around with 245/40 all around. will i rub? if so, will fender rolling fix the rubbing? i am currently dropped on eibach springs.

 

I think it is close to needing a roll, but you should be fine. A roll or little bit of negative camber would definitely be all you need if it does rub.

 

Alright guys, I found an awesome deal on some 17x9 Volk CE28N's, +35 offset. My question is, will it fit over the Calipers? I'd probably put 255/40's on for next season, it's got some stretched 235's now.

JantsenRX8 has 18x9 +29 with 245/40's and doesnt rub; he does have neg camber in the back though

 

i have my rear fenders rolled, am i good or do i still need negative camber? also, is 18x9 +30 flush?
