Spare tire kit a strut-bar?

It appears that the spare tire kit is a funny looking strut bar with a spare tire attached to it. Is it a strut bar (kinda)? Or just looks like one?

Maybe similar... I removed my spare tire kit for now, for added room...

I wondered the same. But I too have removed my spare tire kit, and noted no difference in the handling without the bar.

I know the spare tire kit must be removed if you want the rear strut bar.

Someone should make a spare tire kit that functions as a rear brace. Make some $$$$$$$$$$

It can't be that hard at all.

Isn't the spare tire bar acting as a brace? I took out the tire but left the bar intact.

Perhaps to some degree, but that's definitely not it's intended purpose. It's just there to hold the tire.
