maybe we're not understanding each other correctly, but when the car is on the ground, you can't move the springs, when its off the ground, you can move the spring, the last time i put spring on a car, i had the same thing, and nothing went wrong with that either

I don't know if you sorted this out or not but they should only fit one way. The fronts are usually shorter than the rears. The rears have a tapered bottom to sit on the smaller spring perch on the rear shocks. The rears will not fit on the front perches and the fronts should fall over the rear perches if you have them on wrong.

Been there myself a few times.

When the shock top mounts are on and torqued properly I have never had a spring that was loose inside the mounts. Are your sure the top mounts are torqued down all the way? If it's loose it sounds like your springs are too short for your shocks and not matched well.

I understand you perfectly. It is a concern that the springs are unloaded when the car is up. Of course the springs cannot be moved when the car is on the ground; there's a load of many hundreds of pounds on them. However, during driving sometimes the car will unload the suspension (such as when you go over a big crest) and during those times the spring might not seat again correctly when you you load it back up. I completely agree with shaunv74.

i'm using the stock shocks, so its highly likely that your right the shocks may be a little long for the springs, but we're not talking about 2 inches of play before they seat, i remember it only being about 1/2 to 3/4 inch at the most, and i highly doubt that anyone is getting enought movement on the rear of there suspension to unload the rear that much, i'm pretty sure u'd have to be airborne, if thats the new thing i guess i'm driving my car wrong, i'll have to take it off roading this weekend and see if the springs stay put then

it all depends on what you're looking for, and what you expect these springs to do, my car is daily driven, but i wanted a more aggresive look, with a stiffer suspension, i don't track my car and if i ever did i would just get a set of coil overs, the stuff that these other people, who don't even have the springs, feel is a problem, is not a problem for me, i don't see any point in time that it would ever become a problem on a car, i work on cars every single day of my life, i know when something doesn't look or feel right, the only reason i was worried about these springs in the beginning was because i forgot to load the front suspension before i tighten the upper control arms and it sat higher than i expected once i took car of that, i have not had any noise or handling problems, if you want perfection for your car, go buy a set of coilovers, but for the price, the drop is nice and it handles a little better, its your money you decide
