Hey look, this thread turned 4 years old the other day. So many users have come and gone in that time!
Just curious, what companies?
If you're low enough to need a cup kit, then your handling is sacrificed to a certain degree. Doesn't sound like your style 9k :P

Half the people bitching and complaining in this thread have yet to post a pic of aggressive fitment on their Rx8s.. (including myself).
...But derek king's mismatched wheels are starting to grow on me.. I like. Sorta. Just saying.

Yeah I'm with Tilt, what companies make forged wheels under $2k? No company that I know of makes forged wheels that cheap, all of them have their "cast" lines that are cheaper, but still ranging from 1600-3000 a set. Even my 15 year old Rezax were 1200 when I bought them and they were a tiny size too. Spent close to 4k on the full rebuild to what they are now.
Also, cup kits are next to useless, I would rather bag the car. With cup kits you can only use them temporarily and at extremely low speeds like for curbs or speed bumps. The reason being is because they only have one setting: "air up" and when done so it like doubles your spring rate so you CANNOT drive with them like that. You can only drive aired down.

1600.00 is under 2k, And yes the whole point of a cup kit is to lift the car for certain situations but still have coilovers. I did read the description, I know it's not meant to drive around while aired up. It is not meant to be a airbag system replacement. Exotics use somewhat similar setups. Not all of us have plastidipped cars with $200.00 bumpers so it would be nice to raise the front in certain situations rather get stuck.

My cousin has this on his isF he drives and lowers it all the same time and thats on shitty houston streets.
Im not sure but you might have too swap springs when you send them in. Thats what they have to do on the kw v3's

Plus hills like gas stations. Im not as low as most of you guys but the chassis bracing scrapes alot.
I do want! But imma gonna wait on better coilovers like stance or powertrix. These megans arent worth the cup kit.

Forgestars run about $1600.00, that's under $2,000.00. You can also get forged wheels from TSW for around $1200.00. Those are just off the top of my head fruity.

Going to have to side with Dan on this one.
Despite the name, Forgestars are not forged wheels. Neither are TSW's. Both of these manufacturers utilize a manufacturing process known as 'rim rolling' or 'rotary forging,' which is very different from the true forging process used by Rays, BBS, HRE, etc. Clever marketing by Forgestar, eh?
Regarding cup-kits, you guys pretty much covered this one. To my knowledge, no manufacturer recommends or encourages driving at length while aired up. I had looked into this for the F30 but realized low speeds weren't really an issue for me, only driving a slammed car at speed. Would be a must if I lived someplace with large speed bumps though!

Also, Thanks Tilt. I ignored his previous comment about the forgestars because I thought it was joke lol. Didn't realize he was just that ignorant.
