You can to 9300 with an accessport tuner and the stage 1 performance map, or MazdaManiac maps.

Hymee's protuner will definately do it and will remove the speed limiter as well .
I have JDM 6 speed . I don't understand why your car would be limited to 8500 though . All 6 speeds ,JDM or otherwise, are set at 9000rpm

Increaseing the cut off will do nothing on a stock car, and FI cars peter out well before that RPM range.

Your barking up the wrong tree.

Increased RPM does not equal more power.

True, however there are other good reasons for doing it... like getting that extra bit of room without the need to shift in Autocross..

The AccessPort is available for JDM cars. It can raise the rev limiter to what ever you want.
If you get one, get it from Mazdmaniac and you get 6 months of FREE tunes.

Extra bit of time... +500 RPM anyone? :-)

Exactly my point too. I need that extra 500rpm (no problem for the engine at all imo).
I am in a different situation - I am from Czech republic and I have a European 4Port 5 Speed version but I would really like to have that extra 500RPM before cut-off. I know it would go with no power gain in those extra rpms but that extra time to shift is what I need and also you pass 98-102-104 kmh exactly when you getting too close to that cut-off ( "magic" 100 km per hour :-) ).
I have no way to know if for example HYPERTECH MAX ENERGY would work. I know it most certainly would only work with highpower engines (6-Port). My question is different - Can you use it only to just INCREASE that limiter and keep your ECU MAP otherwise absolutely intact? Or is it complete reflash - taht would make it unusable for my 4-port... Can anyone help with some ideas. I do not want to go for COBB because my MAP is exactly what I want - very driveable, good fuel economy also... Just those RPMs needed.
