As far as some of you not having the reflash indicated on your receipt....
When you have your car in for an oil change or any other service, some techs check to see if there are any updates (the good ones). Often, the flash is done without you ever knowing...unless you ask. I'd check your own records (because, of course, you keep all your records in a nice manilla folder, don't you?) and you should find an indication of a PCM re-flash. I got the R-flash in early June simply because I requested the latest update when I got my car serviced. (I was the first person I knew of that had it. I thought I was getting "P".) As I said before, the tech who works on my car was the only one who knew anything about "R", and at the time, he didn't know what it was for.

BTW: I have not received the letter yet, but I did get a notice from myautogarage.com about it. So, I'm sure we'll all be getting them soon.

No, I don't have a letter either. And Mazda's website still says there are no recalls for my car. So it doesn't seem like Mazda has "officially" started the recall campaign.

My concern is that some of these folks who are jumping the gun and going to the dealers for recall work may not be getting the correct or complete recall work done. Or, maybe asked later to come in yet again once it "officially" starts.

The only reason they did the recall on my car was because I brought it in for the AC Amplifier work.

Anyway, I think it's the service writers that don't know their *** from their elbow. The techs may be doing the right thing, but some service writers talk out their *** thinking they know something.

MNAO will start sending out recall letters for THIS RECALL on the 30th August. No date for the lower control arm recall at this stage. Make sure they have your current address..........

Just an FYI... I was holding off on some other warranty work for my RX-8 until I got the recall letter, but the service manager called me today to have me bring it in. They've now been "approved" to do the recall w/o me having the letter yet.

So it looks like the dealers have the parts, and the full instructions (maybe even training) on what do. Some are even starting to be a bit pro-active about getting the recall done.

Does my RX-8 have to be under the warranty limits 50,000 miles to receive the Recall work for free? I'm wondering since my car is currently at 45,000 miles and I have not receive the recall notices from Mazda yet.

I would assume that the Recall work would be covered for free out of warranty in the case my car has over 50,000 miles correct? Thanks for confirmations on this.

In case later when people's warranty expires and another recall surfaces, we would be covered correct?

Guess you owe yourself a beer Gomez. :D :p IIRC you said you'd buy a beer for the first person to post the recall letter.

Guess I miss out on a flight to Australia!

Is there a problem with printing it out and then saying you have one? The dealerships should all have the parts in by now, shouldn't they? I'd like to get this done sooner rather than later, and have a pile of other TSB's that I'd like taken care of.

Would it be a problem to just print this out and include the gas tank replacement in my list of things to do?

no name/address (although that's easily correctable) and no mazda rep signature at the bottom. but if they are busy and not paying attention, it might slip past.

and while this is a kind of a big deal, i'm not overly concerned about it. it'll get done when it gets done. unless it was at the prior to purchase, my car hasn't been flooded, and i don't sit still at high revs at all, let alone extended periods of time. and when i checked my gromets, they were fine, so i should be fine until i get my letter, however long that takes.

Like the letter says, you don't even need to bring the letter at all.

Mazda are not sending the letter out until August 30. If you show up at the dealers prior to that date with letter in hand......it's going to be pretty obvious!!! Just call the dealer and see if they can slot you in if you want the inspection done earlier......

well, I called oak tree mazda on wed, they said that they are not the one sell my car, so they don't have my Vin number. Even w my vin number (I replied that I have my vin w me), she said that she can not able to pull out anything since mazda network is not linked

I just call merlo mazda after that, they just schedule me on Friday morning and say they gonna provide me rental car. I just back with the pcm software number N3K9EE00013H6020 (pulled out from canscan).

I will try to log the canscan A/F tonite to compare to the N flash I had before (05 model btw)

yes that is correct. 2004 cars in North America had the same flash. 2005 cars in Cali have a different flash than the rest of the states and canada.

oh and thats bullshit. Any Mazda Dealer can do a vin inquiry and find what warrenty work has been done to your car and what recalls need to be done.

Well, I'm glad the rest of the country is no longer suffering with even further detuned flashes because of Cali's ridiculous emissions laws. At what point did Mazda start splitting them off?
