Well I got some news from MAZDA today. They've decided that my overheating issues are due to my driving habits. I have to stop driving in stop and go traffic. Then the car won't overheat.
So MAZDA has kicked me to the curb. Sorry everybody for not getting a solution to this issue.
So I'm on my own now.
Today at MM's, CRH and I installed the Mazmart Water pump. It works great. The car still gets warm, not hot like before, but it cools down a lot faster than before. That makes me happy. Next thing is to install the new BRH Radiator. That should solve all the issues I'm having.

What? should I say LMAO ?

Thats the lamest excuse I've ever seen. Oh come, on, Mazda can do better than that !

I think I respect them more if they tell you that "you're an annoying customer, go away, we just gonna buy ur car back" than this uber bullshit

that is the lamest ******* excuse I've ever heard of. I'm sure that's what they told the guy who hit 300 degrees on his coolant???? (see MM's comments earlier in this thread)

Why am I not supprised by their answer!! Let's see now if you live in a city or the desert then don't buy the 8 because you will have to stop and go. When it over heats it's your fault because you purchased the 8.

Well I have an option on this that I will try tomorrow. A phone call. I am going to see if I can get the actual e-mails sent to the dealer tomorrow too. So I can read them for myself.
But ya know I really didn't expect any thing out of this. If they fixed my car they would have a whole slew of others to modify too. That seems to be what they are avoiding doing if you ask me.

Wow, that really sucks. My good opinion of Mazda just took a step back. If they aren't going to do anything to address the problem, then they need to stop selling the car in hot, dry climates.

just stop selling the car and close this company.

Cuz its our fault that we got this car and use it for "stop and go" traffic. this car is meant to run on highway and highway ONLY. NO STOP and GO Traffic! U HEAR ME !

So much for "customer service"

2nd oil cooler also. Mazda claims the auto has dual oil coolers in their sales literature, I would insist on them adding this or look into lemon law process. Scare 'em a little even 'though I assume you want to keep your 8. Or small claims court to cover your costs in making the car cool properly.

Exactly. Two engineers aren't going to come up with a solution of "don't drive in traffic".

They bumped up against a design deficiency.

That "dont drive in traffic" is just utter bullshit.

Im sure they know what is going on. but probably corporate said "Hell no" to the fixes that they suggested. Cuz that means they might have to issue a recall to every single auto(maybe even manual) Rx-8 out there.

So there you go, here is your answer : "Do not drive in stop & go traffic, its your fault that the car overheats, alright?"

True, I have noticed that my second oil cooler has dropped the oil temps some in daily driving here in the midwest. I only really needed to add it because of track use, though. It couldn't hurt you, though. I found mine when someone was parting out a car on the for sale forums. To get a Mazda one new is pretty expensive. If you want new, I'd look at aftermarket coolers.

I believe there will be some talking about this @ SSXI. The Mazmart H2O pump and the BHR radiatior will solve the lack of cooling Easy has been experiancing.

The second oil cooler should have been standard on the AT/5sp for all markets.

Yup, definitely should have been standard. I think the bean counters did some math and found out it would be cheaper for them to replace engines for people that lived in hot climates than to put oil coolers on all those cars. I think they figured that most people with an AT don't track them (I know Scott told me when he was helping me with some IntX tuning that I'm the only one he has worked with that tracks their AT that he knows of), so they figured they could save some money there. Plus they were charging less for the 4AT, I'm guessing because of its lower advertised power level.

Just brought up the oil cooler as something for him to consider if he is still running hot after the pump and the radiator.

The way Mazda sees it, it makes more sense to risk the lawsuit than to admit a problem.
If they get sued by a dozen people successfully, its still cheaper than a recall on a problem for which they don't have a real or cost effective solution.

Please, let's not forget that Mazmart sells the factory new R cooler and lines for the best pricing in the US. RE-medy is about creating solutions and providing parts that compliment each other. Here's a link to our kit: http://www.mazmart.com/PartsList.aspx?id=27&n=NEW&m=6

Good info, Paul - thanks!

As I've said before, Mazmart is great to deal with. I've bought mulitple products and services from them, and am a very happy customer.
