The OMP tubes have copper crush gaskets......might be loose, try and tighten them up. The pump itself has an o-ring type gasket that might leak.

Front seal leaks will often end up in the same area,,,best to clean up and try and figure out where the new oil comes from

The dealership is roger beasly mazda on burnet road
I have a appointment at Premier mazda in georgetown tx.. i just didnt want to lose hope in that dealer ive been going there for the past 4 years till now.. and well i wont go there anymore
i dont understand why you dont get it.. you have a 5 yr. 60k mile warranty. oil leaking out of any where touching the engine is covered..

simple.. if the dealer is telling you other wise. ask the service manager if you can use his phone.. and dial the mazda na phone # in your owners manual..

they will fix it before that call is completed. or they will wish they had.

yes you have to have ***** to do it.. but it has to be done..

umm do i have an oil leak?
i topped the oil off with 3/4 a quart three days ago putting it close to the full line on the dipstick

ive been running it pretty hard mostly city driving the last couple of days since i filled it not babying it at all

but i checked the oil yesterday and today and its at half on the dipstick?

does the renesis really burn that much oil?

i use mobile one 5w 30 sythetic extended performance im in georgia and its summer could it just be the oil im using or could their be other problems?

oh and its a 04 with 65,000 miles on it

and the oil level warning light has been coming on even though the dipstick says its fine it will come on after running the car for a little while but if i turn it off then back on it wont come back on until after i run the car for a period of time

nice thread resurrection .
Try parking on concrete and looking at where the car was after you take off - if there no oil on the groung you don't have a leak .

thats simple
but i was wondering why it was burning so much oil
is it common for everyone elses 8 to burn that much oil over the course of a couple days of running?

Not really . There could be other factors involved like if you were on a slope or if it was hot and left to drain for 5 mins etc . I would just monitor it closely for a few weeks to get a feel for what is really happening .

Mine uses about 1/2 quart every 600 miles = 1quart/1200 miles.

massive oil lost could be a bad thing.

does your car smoke ? if it smokes (like blue-ish smoke) then you might have a oil seal failure inside the motor.

ok guys well its been a while since got my OMP replaced.. but again i have recently started leaking oil again.. pooling in the same areas!
I cleaned the ENTIRE area and its pooling right under the OMP pump as before.
Only thing is im not under powertrain warranty anymore =[[[

Taking it in to the dealership on friday to get it checked out.. seems to be leaking just after 16 k miles or so..

I would check the o-ring seal and the bolts to make sure it's tight...not much else that could leak

Just read this thread I have posted my problem here My oil leak...Mine seemed to show up after I hit the track or run it hard. Is this covered under the 100kmil warranty? Have oil all over my engine bay. And it is really hard to determine where it is coming from

i have lately noticed that i have to top off the oil level more frequently..right now its at 2 1/2 quarts in 2,400 miles its not a big leak as to say it leaves a puddle on my driveway but just not when i got under it i notice that there is little seapage and oil little drops accumilating in front of the oil pan where the pulleys are its also oil dripping on the oil pump..... is there a common problem that i need to address?????? i took it to the dealership to get some warranty done since they said it was out at 50 K miles and they said it had a leak but did not repair it under warranty.. they said ohh its no big deal the car has 50 K miles.. its normal

maybe the crank seal??

Any insight on this issue is helpfull!

thanks

Hi,

I have an 04 with 55,000 and have a oil pan leak, dealer wants around $200.00 parts/labor etc. I just call Mazada Cust Sr and they said that just the core of the rotary is covered and the oil pan gasket was not covered.
I do have a Route 66 extended waranty which is coving new motor mounts and the AC/Heater board - which is nice.

Thanks
nj

Oil pan gasket (silicone) is covered under the 128,000km warranty. Been there done that, after bitching of course.

As for the quoted part...sounds like the eccentric shaft seal leak (which I have boo), it is covered under the extended engine warranty 160,000km.
