Hitch-pitched sound sign of bearing trouble?

This is about my daily driver, an Oldsmobile. I hear a high-pitched sound on acceleration -- never while my foot is off the gas or while I'm braking. It sounds like a high whistle or ringing.

I've read somewhere that this might be a sign of bearings wearing out. Could that be it, or something else? Thoughts?

Thanks.

A crushed spot in your exhaust system.

Wouldn't that be making a low-pitched noise?

Usually it sounds like the spray from a pressure washer, but it can be a whistle or a hiss.
