Recurring p0076 / Car appears to Randomly run off one rotor / Alt issues

2004 6port.
Engine replaced last year. About 10k miles.
Mods that might matter...
Bhr ignition.
Air pump deleted.
Cat deleted.

About 2 months ago car started running bad. Pulled the codes. Had p0076 and p0300.

I went ahead and replaced both solenoids since I read when one goes the others are not far behind.

Car ran fine for a day. Next day randomly went back to what felt like it was running on one rotor. Pull codes p0302,with p0076 pending.

Pulled the uim back off went over everything. Put it back together.
Car ran fine for about a week then repeated as above. Except now it only gives p0302 (not p0300) with the p0076 code pending.
Even if I clear the codes, p0076 goes right back to pending the next drive cycle. Although the car will run perfectly fine.

Grounds are cleaned. Terminals good. Battery good.

For the hell of it, I test the alt. I notice anytime I add a electrical load to the car the alt begins to make a mechanical sound. If I unplug the alt, the noise goes away. Belts are new and within specs. The alt passes the test at autozone. And I don't have a battery light on in the car or any starting issues (provided it's not trying to run on one rotor.).

I've tried wiggling wires. Moving the wiring harness around. I can't get under the hood and reproduce the problem it seems.
Sometimes it will run bad for a moment and then be fine. Sometimes I have to restart the engine several times in a row before it stops. Clearing codes doesn't do anything. I have new spark plug wires (since they are 4 years old) on the way.
Prior to this no mechanical work has been done since changing the throw out bearing and o2 6months or so prior.

Ideas?
Thanks.
Shawn.

With a missfire....start by testing the coils. Wires and plugs as well.

Once the missfire is corrected then go looking for the 0076 Solenoid code issue

Could be a wiring harness issue or a solenoid has a poor connection. Or the solenoid could be faulty

Which ones did you replace?

I will be testing the coils when the wires get here. It's a bhr kit with about 45k miles on it. Plugs have less than 1k miles on them.

It was my understanding p0076 caused this to happen. Or at least that's what I have read.

I replaced the ssv and Vdi solenoids. I didn't change the air pump one as the air pump has been removed from the car for a few years now and I have those codes blocked.

I have tried reaching back there and wiggling / pulling on the plugs for the vdi/ssv with no change.

try swapping the solenoid plugs to the air pump one one at a time.....If it stops then the empty one is defective. Like I said though...wiring can be a huge issue on a 10Year old car. I have just spend days on a 93 FD dealing with old brittle cracked wiring...

If you can't find it easily.....try checking continuity on the solenoid wires with the PCM and see if they make sense

I'll pull the uim back off tomorrow and start testing. Thanks dannobre, glad to see you're still around.

Well. Looks like I have a bad solenoid and bad wires.

Had a lot of unexpected crap come up so only had a moment to mess with the car.
But I did manage to swap the ssv and Vdi. Cel followed now I get p0661 (ssv).
Didn't have time to pull the wires and inspect them how I wanted, but I took a broken broom handle and moved them around while the engine ran and heard a few pops followed with a stumble. So just gonna order another solenoid and wait to for the wires to come in and that should do the trick as far as those 2 issues go.
Now just gotta figure out what to do about this alt... Probably just time for a new one.

So late Saturday I managed to find time and replace the solenoid and plug wires. Went over all the connections under the UIM, everything looked fine. Forgot the coil tester at home so Didn't test the coils. Although I doubt it would have told me anything.

2 Days and 150miles later not a single issue, I was actually going to get on here tonight to post my issue was gone. But on the last leg of my trip home low and behold the car randomly started running on one rotor again. Instantly started pulling codes. Rear rotor misfire, system too lean. Ecu dumping fuel like crazy. Now normally I would immediately pull over and start attempting to restart the car till the problem stopped. But out of rage (?), I floor it in first gear... lol? It struggled like a bitch till it hit 5.5k and the problem just disappeared again on it's own.

FML...
