Exclamation HELP my car is dying... ignition issues

recently my car's cel went on (flashign and now its solid)... when i was starteding the car up it didnt want to start and was bogging.. it was trying to stall out so i continuously revved it. the rpms went up REALLY slow. when i was driving it i kinda pounded on it because if felt like something was clogged... so i tried getting it out lol... the car pulled AMAZINGLY harder yet somethings wrong.

i brought it to mazda and they said it was something with my ignition. because of my mods they wont do any warrenty work. (understandable i guess.)

i have the viper remotestart, greddy sp2, aem cai, and ap pullies (engine mods) the remote started tappers into the ignition coil voids warrenty.... does anyone have a clue what could be wrong?

besides dealer where else can i get my car looked at?

thanks in advance
-benny

how bad is it to be running bad coils? mazda said they want to charge 250ish for one coil and install... since i have an intake and and alarm that taps in to the ignition coil...

I think the new coils are $20 ish......it takes removing one bolt and a weatherpac connector (plug) to remove them.

It would take about 30 min to replace all four with no mechanical ability at all.

$250....that is "Bend over Pricing"

You can get a missfire from other problems as well...hopefully they actually diagnosed that the ignition was the problem...it could be a lot of other things...

I had that code with a dead coil...If it is not firing at all....the plug will be black and fouled......

They tend to fail intermittintly at first..and then completely. If it's a trailing plug like mine...it will actually run OK except at idle and real high RPM...a leading will run more crappy all the time.

so changing the coils isnt hard? what plugs should i get to replace them? from what ive heard majority of the people think its the coils so i think i may just take a stab at it.. what else could this possibly be?

for me its when i start up the car it grumbles and when i rev it moves up slow. it idles at about 2krpm for a while... then when im driving it accelerates slow then at about 3800rpm it finally wants to go but im already shifting at 4k so it a really awkward jerk.. also sometimes i have to ride the clutch inorder to get out of first otherwise it will bogg out and stall, and other times it just boggs and moves realllllly slowly...

It will bog at 4K when it is cold......and 2K is normal for a cold start for a bit..

Have you installed a turbo yet...if so...sounds like you need a tune bad!

get new plugs and aftermarket plug wires to go with the coils, the Magnecor wires are very good and should especially be used with FI, the OE plug wires are junk and will cause this problem, you might try those first, also try resetting your eccentric plate calibration doing the in-car brake tap method, the calibration is directly related to proper ignition operation

I think you need to find a mechanic or shop to help you out a bit....

4 coils...one per plug....either will work for wires

Most aftermarket coils will cause install problems...they won't be plug and play...so not a DIY unless you know what you are doing....
