New owner, half way done with first rebuild.
Purchased an '04 Rx-8 GT a little over a month ago and love the car. Bought it for 1250, as the previous owner could not get the car started for over 6 months. Got it started the next day as the engine was flooded. Though, low compression was still an issue(75-85 PSI) I decided to undergo my first rebuild. (Yes, I tried other alternatives before starting the rebuild - such as new spark plugs, ignition coils, sea foam, cleaning the maf, etc. to ensure time and money would not be wasted.)
I am halfway done with the rebuild and am actually enjoying the process. The housings and rotars seem to be in fair condition(will not need to replace) but I have spotted a broken apex seal. Have not made measurments yet to confirm that everything is in fair condition though and have not really took the time to eye out the flaws as I just completed taking the engine apart and am in need of some rest before the next day for rx8 rebuilding. lol.
I have taken many pictures, as I turned into a little schoolgirl fanboying over the rotars and their design. I apologize for my newbish acts. Funny conversations regarding me and friends have also taken place due to the fact I own a rotary and Im surrounded by pistons.(probably most case scenarios) My girlfriend is one of those pistons, as she owns an s2000.
Hopefully I continue to have good experiences with this car as I am now. Also, hopefully the rebuild goes well and I am able to restore comoression. Wish me luck. Open to any advice and or constructive crticism.
