I installed the Interceptor and cooling mod. Next morning , the car wouldn't start. I checked the battery and it was just very dead. I charged the battery, let the dealer run a test on it and he concluded that the battery was still ok. I connected the battery and measured the current at the battery.
I saw a 450-350 mA going to about 10mA after a few seconds. So not really a current to get a battery flat overnight. Next morning, same issue. Just to make sure it really wasn't the battery, I bought a new one. Next morning.. yep flat.

I do have some other extra's on the room fuse, and also removed that fuse, just to make sure none of these devices were responsible, but next morning .. yep...

It seems like something just starts using a lot of current(?) after a period of time...

Before installing the Interceptor and cooling mod, I didn't have any issues.

Does anybody have a clue ? Any ideas on how to log the current over a long periode of time ?

 

Don't think anyone could answer because they don't know exactly what you did to screw it up. Is obvious that whatever you did caused the problem though. go back step by step and see what you did that attached to the electrical system.

 

Remember the RX8 system works by grounding each elect. device to switch it on .

 

Of course I did go back and removed the latest stuff, next morning ... as empty as my beers on a friday evening.

If I did screw something up, I should be able to measure what device is responsible, no ? But nope, no smells, battery is OK, charger is just fine, ... seems I have to go over it again..

I will check the groundings...

Trunk open ...or interior light on?

I did that once on another car.....took the stuff out of the trunk...installed it and killed the battery. Took me about 1/2 hour with a DMM to figure out the draw was on the trunk light circuit. Felt like a total a**

 

I bet you hooked up the cooling Mod wrong.

 

I checked the light in the trunk just to be sure, but that is ok.

I installed the cooling mod from Mazsport and that is a very easy mod to install.
Grounding the negative side to the chassis (above the ECU), replacing the relays on the orther side and that is it.

I just let the dealer take a look, he was thinking about the extra's that are installed on the "room" fuse, but I have already removed that fuse to test, ...
So, the search continues... it must be something ... but is just seems very hard to pinpoint.. growwll..

If you've got a camcorder you could log your meter that way.

Are you sure the system is charging the battery?

 

Do you have NAV? One owner had a problem with the NAV not shutting down when the car was switched off. You can do a search for that in the forum.

 

Using a camcorder... what a great idea... why didn't I come up with this .. I will check the NAV system aswell... but I think it is on the Room fuse ...
