Then sell your 8 and buy a skyline. Don't worry we wont stop you. If you noticed, all of us know that an rx8 isn't that fast. (We should know, we own one too. longer than you have.) We care about how unique it is, how the handling is amazing, and how sexy the car is.

2005 Red/ Manual transmission: CEL

Take it to a local mechanic and have him check if the gas cap is sealing. They have a device that does this, returns a "Pass" or "Fail" if the cap is OK or leaking.

I had a CEL, went to the dealership, they told me I needed a new intake manifold, manifold gasket, fuel filler line, the list went on to the tune of $6500.

Took the car to a friend who is a mechanic, said the code was a pressure leak/vacuum issue. He checked all the lines, slave pump, put smoke in the system to check if the manifold gasket was leaking, found nothing. Then he tested the gas cap and it failed the vacuum test. A new gas cap was all that was needed. He said the dealership probably didn't take the time to properly diagnose the problem, and chose to recommend replacing everything. I'll never take my car to the dealership again.
