detonation, Fuel pump perhaps?

Well I’ve been having detonation problems since last month its really noticeable around 3000rpm when I posh on the throttle. I changed the coils the sparks and it didn’t help. Also it doesn’t do it until its wormed up. And the more I drive it the worst it gets. I’ve noticed that the engine has a bad shake to it when it’s wormed up too. I’m guessing it has something to do with my fuel pump. Any thoughts or ideas about this or what could be causing this.

Thanks everyone

SHould be interchangeable--fuel pressures did not change, gas tank has no redesigns.
Creditable source suggest that the pump is a denso pump!

Are you running prem-fuel? Give us some more history and info on your car. Have you tried to de-carbon it yet or Sea Foam(or some other engine cleaner) in the tank?

check your spark plug leads are on propery .
Are you sure it is detonation ? 3000 rpm is unusual for that .

Well it sounds like detonation but it’s odd on the old rx7 the engine light would come on when detonation occurred and the knock (Detonation) Sensor detected it and could not solve the problem by recalculating the adjustments, but the CEL isn’t on in the rx8.
