most dealership sell their parts at MSRP, which is 170 something I think ?

Plus it will be charge at least an hour of labor, even tho it takes only 15 minutes to do the swap.

Then some dealership might pull more bs on the labor like "oh after u change that u need to do a brake fluid flush" which will cost another hour or so ?



Mazda sooooo gonna hate me, but hey its all good, doing this for the community.

the new one cost a lot less than the old one.

why? I have no idea.

the new bracket should be here by Friday, then I will post lots of pictures

If you were over 50,000 miles, you were automatically charged a $100 diagnostic fee just for a Mazda dealership to look at the car. I don't remember exactly how much the pedal cost, but whatever it was plus the labor they charge for repairing it...and you're easily over $300. I actually used a service coupon to get the bill down to $300...so I bet in some cases there have been owners who were charged closer to $400 for this if they were out of warranty.

So you come in and say "my clutch bracket is broken"
They say "you need a new clutch bracket, that will be $100 for figuring out your problem.

They will only replace it if it is broken or shows signs of cracking.

Just remember Mazda does take care of us so ehen that new RX comes out you can rest eay.

I was talking to my Mazda OEM parts supplier who is a Parts manager. He has informed me that they assigned a new part number:

(2004-2008) FEY5-41-30X = Includes: FE05-41-300C, D374-66-4D0A, GJ6A-66-49YA

(2009) FFY9-41-30X = Includes: FE05-41-300C, NE55-66-4D0A, GJ6A-66-49YA

So in short the pedal has not changed in design and has not been reinforced. The way it has been described to me is it is a warranty extension to 100k miles and the pedal must be broken. They will just replace the broken pedal with the same type pedal that initially broke previously.

Remember: "lf your vehicle is functioning normally, there is no need to contact your dealer."

If there is a nasty squeak, snapping, or popping noise you may get them to replace it but I would imagine it would be a fight since it is not broken.

they said this warranty applies from 04-09. what about 2010 my ?

I think they did update something, or else they don't even need to update the part number. not to mention, this new part is actually cheaper than the old part. so they 100% did something, or switch supplier or material who knows.

no one knows for sure until its in hands. mine is coming on friday, hope UPS don't "deliver" my f-ing package again in front of my house and I can't find it anywhere.

They change part numbers a lot more than you know, ignition coils, the clutch pedal has changed 3 times already with the part number if not more.

They adjust cost for varying reasons, a big one is to reduce the "paper" cost to the dealers for warranty because it gets billed back to the manufacturer not the dealer.

Would you want a bill for recalls for 5 million or 2 Million?

Please do take pictures I would love to be wrong on this for your sake and everyone else's.

Coils I think 4 times, it was the original, then A, B, A-9U, and now B-9U ?

adjust cost to reduce paper cost to dealer sounds reasonable, but judging from Mazda's "prior" history, I don't think so, just think of it, for the past 10 years, almost all their parts, especially the ones from Japan, has increased.

As for pictures yes I will take a lot. Again I hope UPS will not "deliver my package to the front door again". god they just lost my SSD and iPod Nano for my gf. I was like wtf. front door my ***, my bro was home the whole day the door bell didnt ring at all. f-ing lazy ****.

So I just called Mazda to specify the letter for me.
I have a ton of squeeking but they said unless theres signs of cracking or stress then that doesn't count lol.

U need squeaking plus stress cracks or anything like that.
So id suggest checking the pedal yourself first before u pay em 100 bux and they dont fix it haha

Hang on....Coils were only changed Once..A to a B..the 9U stuff is local, a way to identify in most cases the exact same part but purchased in Bulk from Mazda to lower price, like the coils.

In genuine boxes with a local Part Number sticker placed over it with a 9U.

Pedal Kit..
If it was about 'Cost', they why have they included Pedal Switches in the Kit??..a little unnecessary?, or they think this is a good option.

9u is only for USA or North american Market then? hmm

dont know about that.

I thought the original was without the A/B ?

My clutch pedal all of a sudden slammed to the floor as I was pulling into work. I had it towed to the dealership and told them that it felt like a cable snapped. It didint feel like the clutch had a problem, but felt more like a mechanical link let go.

They took a look at it, and said it was definitely the clutch. I told them I wanted to keep the old parts becuase the clutch had never been abused and never had any problems before. They did a total clutch job, buttoned it all up, and then went to test drive it. Same problem. After further looking it was the clutch pedal that broke. This was in 2009.

Once that was replaced, the car obviously ran great. When it came time for the bill, they said that they would throw the clutch pedal in for free but still wanted to be paid for the unneccessary clutch job (the clutch parts were worn after 60000 miles, but still had plenty of life left.) I negotiated a somewhat fair deal and left.

I wonder if there is a way to get some kind of reimbursment from mazda since the pedal was the start of the whole mess?? Any thoughts?....

It never hurts to ask.. and as we have seen here if you make enough of a fuss sometimes you can get what you want

If I were the parts or service guy I would sympathize with you though, they made the mistake of diagnosing your problem incorrectly in the first place.

I will raise hell.

Cuz even though you might got a fair deal on the clutch job, but it was totally unnecessary in the first place, it was caused by the pedal.

I will ask Mazda to pay for the clutch job.
