stupid ?, stock BOV??
ok stupid question, i have auto rx-8 and some times when i rev up to red line and then let off it sounds like a BOV. Do rx-8 have a stock blow off valve or anything like that?

stock, it does not have a BOV. I'm not sure what could be causing anything to sound like a BOV. Aftermarket intake?? (though I'm not sure that would make the sound)

I would be almost certain to say that you are hearing the "rotary whine". I would hope so at least. Are you sure the sound your hearing comes when you let off the gas and not while still accelerating to the red line? If the sound comes when still accelerating than your car is fine and you probably have not read too much on the rotary. If the sounds comes when you let off the gas, then you car could have some serious issues.

considering that you think a non-turbocharged car has a blow-off valve in the first place I would question whether or not you really know what a blow-off valve sounds like. It's more than likely a back fire in the exhaust.
You should also check coolant reservoir and the radiator cap that's ontop of it. If air is rushing into the system it can make a "whooosh" noise, but it's mostly constant.

I think I know what you're hearing - my FC used to do the exact same thing before one of the seals blew (uh-oh)
It doesn't have the intensity or high-pressure sound of a regular BOV, but it does sound like a forced whoosh of air from the engine bay, am I correct? I'd have your car checked out - something is loose, breaking, or badly worn... at least that's what I've experienced.
Don't panic, though - it's not urgent. My car had that pseudo BOV sound for 3 or 4 months before other problems followed (auto tranny tried to "lunge" when initially shifted into gear, idle was at 2k-3krpms, *hard* starts, etc.) If you've got any mods, take them off and get to a dealership for some warranty work.
