maybe I can just take 1 cooler line off and vacuum the oil out of the rest of the lines then just dissconnect everything for a semi-clean disassembly.

dont go and do all that yet---check the outside of the oil coolers to see if they get hot first to make sure the thermostats in them are working. If they are getting hot-then cleaning may not be of help.
when you go to synthetic oil the temps will cool off some too.

yea they get hot and the cooler fan I have on the driver side cools that bad boy off quite nicely
that is part of the reason I am confident the guage is jacked because everything else is working fine and temping as expected

I say for now--dont worry about it. get the synthetic in asap. 230 oil temps are not at a danger will robinson alarm level.
mechanical gauges are usually more accurate than electrical on a consistant basis. Electrical can be tempermental. I dont think the gauge is wrong.
If you want too you can test it by putting the sender into a pot of hot water while measuring the temp of the water with a cooking thermometer.
I too have a small spal fan on the drivers side cooler--it will reduce my oil temps about 10F in slow traffic.
You do have the front clip back on right?

the reason I think the guage is broken is the fact that it makes random and very wide swings in temp
car is put back together but I need to duct the spal fan to keep the heat out of the bay

yep--sounds like the mechanical gauge may be messed up?- probably was bent to much and a small gas leak from the tube occured or something?
to 200 mph --the prosport/obdII sensors may be a little different. the acceptable error % I think is 5 degrees or so. One thing that could be happening is your thermostat bypass may not be closing tightly? IDK

well its not too far off. yesterday was about 90deg out and very humid, the highest my wt got to was 194. recently got mizu rad, hoses, all new oem coolant hoses that didnt come with the mizu ones, mazmatr wp and t stat. the splash shields behind my oil coolser are opened up a bit more also.
Yea, OD....my coolant is rock solid. Does the OT guage work like a thermocouple (or whatever is in a H2O Heater). I was very delicate on how I installed it and whatnot
where did you order the coolant hoses (I have the Rad hoses from Pettit) but I cant find all the other "smaller diameter" hoses (well not yet anyway). Yea, OD....my coolant is rock solid.
