Renesis Swap

I realize this idea was discussed on rx7club around when the rx8 was about to be launched, but as far as I know, no one ever actually carried it out. Since the renesis engine has seen several years of aftermarket development and we have seen a 13b REW swapped into an rx8, I was wondering about this crazy idea- Replacing a 13b REW in a rx7 (preferably FD) with a renesis? I realize some problems have already been brought up-

-Drive-by-wire issues
-Power steering?
-less power than 13b REW

Could the DBW issue be solved by replacing the fd pedal assembly with a rx8 set and using a rx8 ECU? I would also want to swap out the dash gauges for the rx8 ones(cuz dey sexy). Power steering: I have no idea how I would resolve that, except for a driver mod to include arm muscles.

Of course, one would gain several MPG and lose approx 100 pounds (between the twin turbo set-up and the lighter renesis). I think I'm correct in saying that the majority of the FD's problems stem from either the twin set-up or the heat generated by the turbo's.

Am I correct in thinking this might result in a ultra-sexy pretty reliable car that looks somewhat like a mini-vette?

I am not in a position to try this myself(yet- just need, erm, lets say $30,000), nor am I asking anyone to do this. I was wondering if anyone saw any additional problems or issues with this idea. I would post this on 7club, except it's certain to get flamed over there. Besides, I think the people that know more about the renesis tend to hang out over here than over there.

Thanks, and try to keep the flaming to a minimum, I realize the idea of abandoning the higher power 13b REW is sacreligous to some.

To be honest, I think I might be scared of driving a car that makes men scared and girls weak knee'd. 400 HP= too much for me right now. I have no illusions about my skills ( I'm good, but I'm not pro nor even close). I don't really want to spin the tires, and for god's sake I don't want to pull the panties off your drunken sister- even if she is wearing a thong. As for the shadow of american muscle, well, I'll just show them some curvy roads 'round "these parts".

Besides, I could always go turbo later... or swap in a 16x... either would probly do... once I find a way to pay for this Frankenstein.

im a bit confused as to why you would want to do this.....i mean really. I have had to go through an unbelievable amount of head aches just trying to undo all the things that make the renny work in the rx8. i wouldent even want to start to think about what it would take to put one in an fd. if reliability is what you want in an fd just get an old school n/a rotary and call it a day and save your money. Or just do somthing nuts like me and swap in pistons, just dont expect some people to give you hell for it. ok im done

Been quite a few people that have put the Reni into a FC, (and a couple of threads on it on the RX7club) so I wouldn't think it would be an issue to put one in a FD.

In the UK Hayward Rotary have put a 4 rotor reneses into an FD Drift car, I think it's drove by a chap called Paul Barber

I am not 100% sure on the details but believe there is a bit of info above
