Pavement all torn up in the neighborhood ......... stupidly they tear up the pavement days before actually being ready to repave it ........ anyway no skips on the bumpy torn up pavement or even speed bumps or winter potholes I've hit. Granted, we may not have craters the size of yours :D.

I drove to Pittsburgh, using the Pennsylvania Turnpike, last fall. If it didn't skip on that trip, it's not going to.

I've had my car for 3 weeks today and have had a few problems with skipping. I just thought at first it was because my other car has a pretty good aftermarket deck, and could eliminate some of the skipping. But then I decided to BUY a new cd (something I never do), and it played fine until the end, when it skipped like crazy. I plan on getting the mp3 player pretty soon, so I'm going to try to ignore it while I can, but if I have problems after my mp3 player arrives, I'll be pissed.

It's definitely due to bumps in my case. But only certain kinds of bumps. There is one on my street that always produces a skip even though its a small bump and many other larger bumps in other places that do not. I say there is no skip protection because as soon as I hit the bump the music cuts out. It happens when the front tires hit the bump. The bumps that cause it seem to be the kind where you driver over a "ledge" - 2 sections of pavement that are at different heights and both wheels hit at the same instant.

Yes exactly Nubo. It's not necessarily the biggest bumps that cause the skipping, just bumps with a certain profile. It seems to happen more on rough sections of road than when I just hit isolated potholes. I'd say I average 2-3 skips per day.
