Please HELP!!!!! Batt disconnect then no Power Steering

Today I replaced My rear shocks with Bilstien HDS, While I jacked up the rear I had the brake pedal locked down to keep it from going anywhere. To keep the battery from running down I disconnected the Neg (-) battery cable. The project took about 4 hrs (had to take a 1.5 hr break to take my kid somewhere).

Anyway when I got done I hooked back up the battery cable and expected to have to relearn the steering angle sensor but I have no Power steering.

I checked the 60A EPS fuse and the 15A Engine fuse (and all others while I was at it) and they all have power to them.

I have never had any issues with the steering and It worked fine before this happened.

I remember seeing several threads on here about PS issues but I couldnt find squat.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! I lost the use of my left arm 2 years ago in a motorcylce wreck and turning the wheel is a B!t$h one handed.

There are a bunchof really knowledgable guys on here so I figured this is the best place to look. Thanx in advance!!!!

Did you remember to hook up the ground for the power steering...? It's a separate wire that attaches to the neg terminal...if you removed the nut and the wire..it might have fallen off. If you removed the terminal clamp..that won't be it

I did the DSC calibration. I havent seen a steering calibration. Just looked through again and didnt see it. But I wouldnt put it past me that I missed it too. What would be the procedure?

I pulled the terminal and the wires as well. I was going to replace the terminal because of corrosion but the dealership sold me a Pos (+) end by mistake.

Its the full left/right steering cal.
But, in reading it again, I understand that you don't have any assist at all, which is probably not the calibration.

Yeah, I did that. I also found the thread on no PS and cheked out the 2 grey connectors which had no corrosion on them, but I cleaned them and What Im guessing is the Torque sensor at the rack did the same to it and applied dielectric grease to all 3 with no effect at all.

I spoke witth my Tech at the dealership I go today and he told me three different connectors that Mazda tells them to inspect for this issue. They told him in training for the power steering system to check and clean the Black connector at the 60A EPS fuse. The white connector that goes to the ground wire to the battery and the remove the ground wire that attachs to the core support at the back corner of the airbox bottom right beside the battery box. Even though these didnt fix mine problem I thought maybe other people might want to know this. All three of mine were corroded badly.

Alright found out the problem... Blown EPS module. I have a huge stereo in the trunk and in that stereo is a 10 farad CAPACITOR. If you dont un hook the cap before reconnecting te battery it sends a current spike up the ground side and can (and will) most likely fry the EPS module.

I dont know how to relocate this to the PS thread but others need to know about the connectors and ground that I found out Mazda advises thier techs to look at first and About car stereo capacitors frying modules.

So would someone add this in with that thread please?
